Should watches be issued at 11pm for the north islands

Should watches be issued at 11pm for the north islands

as a precaution??? Just incase the turn N, dosent happen in time?

I would hope they would, but that's just my opinion.

Which makes me wonder why I've never asked this before -- where do folks on the islands go?? I mean, they'd have to evacuate by boat, right? Or is there higher ground on some of the islands?

Yes tropical storm watches not hurricane watches because the hurricane force winds area is small 25 miles compared to the TS force winds 115 miles all around and I think that the eye will pass a safe distance to the north (MORE THAN 25 MILES) but more closer than what the models haved been forecasting.

Not sure, Chad...I'd say if the general westerly trend continues much longer, they'll require one for safety's sake.

Firstly, outside of the US, the nhc doesnt issue watches or warnings. the governments of the countrysor islands do.
Secondly, is say TS watches or warnings are in order for the northen lesser antilies. and TS or hurricane watches are in order for PR.

Having been through Hugo, Luis, Bertha, Georges, Jose, Debby & Lenny, in the Virgin Islands, I can tell you where people go...

Under a mattress, in the bathtub, in a closet, that's about it....while the roof is still on....afterwards, it's under a table, in the cistern...Been there (all 3) done that....

I doubt there is much of a landfall threat.. though there MAY be some squally weather as the Hurricane passes too the north. Tropical storm force gusts are possible, but I am still doubting sustained TS force winds.. I'm no expert by any means though

Only one comment...

The northern islands will be on the west side of the storm, which is the "so called weak" side of the storm, so they probably won't see full force of the storm. Tropical storm watches would be prudent, though.

Just my 2 cents worth...
