Just got back late last night from 3 gorgeous days in Michigan's Upper Peninsula! My husband and I left late Thursday afternoon......it was the FIRST vacation together (without kids) in almost 20 years!
It's a 7 hr. drive......but worth every minute! Our destination was Paradise, just a few miles s. of Whitefish Point. Remember the Edmund Fitzgerald freighter that went down back in Nov. of '75 in Lake Superior??

This is THE most beautiful body of water......but very dangerous! The stones washed up by those pounding waves are absolutely beautiful........my gardens are full of 'em......even have a garden named my "Superior Garden" that has a winding path of Lake Superior stones!

The bird migration has already started and they pass right thru along the edge of this lake......it was fantastic! http://www.exploringthenorth.com/birds/birds.html
We also drove over to Seney Wildlife Refuge.....hundreds of trumpeter swans dotting this huge body of water.......saw beaver, deer, ducks, herons, eagle, hawks.........lots more!

A few of the trees were already starting to change color! We came home with a van-load of beautiful stones and driftwood........such a great time!
Glad we decided to beat the holiday traffic.......today it's raining here!
(hope you enjoyed seeing where we visited!)..........p
