yea i was wondering how the models are handeling that feature ill take a look at the nam.

looks like it fizzles out in west texas according to the nam? but wouldnt that be a lift mechanism here in north texas?

It's a very robust shortwave on the NAM. If there was ANY bit of quality moisture around it could've been an amazing system. Problem is the previous several have scoured out much of the moisture and northerly flow has already kicked in. If it had consolidated with last night's shortwave and swung out as one piece we'd be singing a different tune. You are right that there is a lot of lift but there isn't much left to lift . Though in the past systems like this have found a way to pinch out surprises, it's not promising from the guidances though.

So i don't know if this is true or not but people down here in Houston are reporting some very light flurries mixed with the drizzle. I walked outside and it looks to me like there is! But how? It doesn't seem cold enough, certainly feels like it though!

Strange things happen in Houston! Who knows lol miracles happen there all the time lately it can be 50 in Dallas and Austin and 40 in Houston and snowing~! Are you sure it wasn't heavy drizzle vs light drizzle? I have a hard time telling a difference

NWS of fort worth just put out a new image that has most places just north of Dallas and west of dfw in the area for freezing drizzle.. Temperatures are definetly dropping and I guess the NWS is expecting the moisture to come in after 10 PM

Well our local mets have brought it up and looks to me that's what it is. Now I may be wrong, but others are talking about it from around the Houston area, mainly north. Who knows! Whatever it is, it does look nice flying through the air!

My personal feeling is that the radar will fill in a bit more and more moisture will make it to the ground. Nothing heavy, just more than what is being shown right now.

Seeing a good amount of flurries here. About 30 min North of Denton.

I just left campus (UNT), and I'm about 100% sure there were light flurries.

Looking at the radar trends, if the light precipitation holds together, DFWers might get a few snowflakes (but more probable drizzle) from this. The radar returns are getting slightly more intense (still very light), so there might be some hope that the light precipitation shield holds together until it reaches the metroplex.

Decatur is reporting light snow. That band of more substantial precip is moving SE from the NW. Denton and NW Tarrant counties soon if it stays intact.

something intresting about the precip line here in the dfw metro is that it is barily moving and gathering more moisture.

I was outside earlier and its just mist. I suppose someone could mistake it for flurries because it's so light it blows easily with the wind. But its not flurries.

If you look at DFW Climatology for the beginning of December, you'll find that it's extremely difficult to get any measurable snow/ice this time of year. Matter of fact, the highest recorded snowfall amount at DFW through the first 8 days of the month was a 0.5" and that's going back over 100 years. IMO, I believe January will be our month for all the action this winter season...the teleconnection setup just doesn't look right to me through the first few weeks this month.

The stuff in the metroplex is mist. But the reflective greens and darker blues are flurries I bet.
