Unfortunately some of the areas not closer to the coast are slipping back into drought mode. I sure don't like the current trend I am seeing. At least we aren't anywhere nearly as dry at this point as we were last year.

I don't like the trend either. The thought of a drought just breaks my heart. The fact that we don't have a ridge parked over us is the reason we aren't as dry as we were last year, but it also means we aren't protected from anything tropical, I don't know which is worse. I would never wish a hurricane on our area, or anyone else's for that matter, believe me, but I sure hope we see rain soon.

Jagno wrote:OMG it's unbearably hot, hot, hot! DH and I have already built a 3rd deck around the pond and he wanted to start on deck 4 but the heat has really gotten to me on top of a pretty bad sunburn I got yesterday. Deck 4 will just have to wait. All of the rain yesterday went around and east of us yet we didn't have a single drop fall here. Those that did, got way more than what they'd bargained for it seems. I pray we don't see another drought anytime soon. What worries me is that we are seeing unseasonably hot temperatures so early. I don't even want to imagine August.

That is what I said about mid May last year. We all know what August was like.  Let's just ignore this heat and dryness and maybe it will just go away.

As bad as it is right now (and it is so humid and hot you can cut it with a knife), I will take this over last year any time.

most powerful item in my arsenal (I don't dare play this again for my province..... the once I did  was way more than enough :double: ).

All the best and go wash your cars! :jacket: hang your laundry and water your lawns too!

and I'll add this one too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=x768VAsOQSw

we are finally at 61 degrees after a mighty cool night and a rather fall like day. Estevan's low, near the border, was at 44F earlier.

Where is the cockroach ridge parked?

After reading the two posts above I found this and it looks so promising as did everything up here re you folks getting a promising low.

I hope this is today's

These look good too.... http://www.weathercentral.com/weather/us/states/TX/radar/index.html

Since my province and your State seem to be the yin and yang of each other I was hoping this insanity (at both our ends) would settle into more normal conditions.

It's over Houston isn't it?

It's almost 11pm and the heat index is still sitting at 91º. I want to thank the inventor of air conditioning every single time I walk back inside my home.

When the heat index got up to 104º I hung my hose on the dog kennel and set it to mist just to give my two labs some relief.

Well, I mowed, raked & watered the lawn today so we should be seeing some rain tomorrow. Our forecast calls for 30% tomorrow, 60% tomorrow night, 40% Wednesday, and a 30% chance Wednesday night and into Thursday. Just doing my part. LOL

Congrats Jagno I'm glad to see all was not for naught. :)

BTW I have just seen what a cockroach ridge can do. It is like a black hole  .....1/2 of the clouds bearing moisture are headed to Louisiana now and the other 1/2, that were heading towards Houston, just disappeared off the forecast radar of EC.

As per one melting tireman's request

Gillam Manitoba would be eternally grateful if you traded weather with them (not me though, I don't want your kind of heat)

Had a heavy storm earlier today around lunchtime with lots of street flooding and 1.5"-2" of rain. We're pretty soggy around here but no complaints! Looks like Houston is under the gun right now by a severe storm. Hope you guys get some good rain out of that.

No, not me. That was some ugly looking clouds when I was traversing my way home in the 5 pm hour. We did not get the brunt of it, but folks east of us (Conroe and The Woodlands) sure did. There was a mass of rain coming our way from north (College Station) and it just hit a brick wall right at the city. We might get some more today. Keep those fans blowing Miss Screamer. We need all the cool we can get.

Man you folks have mean nasty cockroach ridges down thereI

Speaking of which the last video I posted and this one are running into a blocking ridge too now (I can't get them to upload directly onto to your thread)......not a good sign to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aYs7AP8UPic

The one above has all the wind you could wish for (71 mph and one of the nastiest blizzards we've had......so lots of wind and cold with it). It makes me feel it in my bones. :P

the posting of video blocking ridge is still in place :(

I'll turn my fans on high but would feel better if that had come through

I know you aren't in drought but it is the rain that this video contains that has brought too much luck to my location

Trying my best......Saskatoon suffered the worst in our dry spells for many years.

:uarrow: Hopefully not that bad (unless you really want it)
