MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1262
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0601 PM CDT SUN JUN 24 2012

AREAS AFFECTED...PORTIONS WRN/CENTRAL/SRN FL PENINSULA AND A SMALL
PORTION OF THE FL PANHANDLE

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 422...

VALID 242301Z - 250000Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 422 CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...TORNADO WATCH 422 WILL LIKELY NEED TO BE REPLACED PRIOR TO
ITS EXPIRATION TIME OF 00Z. NEW TORNADO WATCH SHOULD INCLUDE A LARGE
PART OF THE FL PENINSULA AND POSSIBLY A PORTION OF THE COASTAL FL
PANHANDLE.

DISCUSSION...THE CENTER OF TS DEBBIE LOCATED OVER THE NERN GULF IS
FORECAST BY NHC TO DRIFT SLOWLY NWD TONIGHT. SEE LATEST DISCUSSIONS
FROM NHC FOR MORE DETAILS. THIS LOCATION WILL KEEP MUCH OF THE WRN
HALF OF THE FL PENINSULA IN A FAVORABLE LOCATION FOR TROPICAL
CYCLONE INDUCED SUPERCELLS. VWP FROM THE TAMPA BAY AREA INDICATES A
50 KT LLJ JUST OFF THE SFC WITH LARGE HODOGRAPHS AND 0-1 KM STORM
RELATIVE HELICITY OF 300-500 M2/S2. OUTER RAIN BANDS OVER THE ERN
GULF WILL LIKELY CONTINUE DEVELOPING AND MOVING INLAND THIS EVENING.
MINI SUPERCELLS EMBEDDED WITHIN THESE BANDS WILL POSE A THREAT FOR
ISOLATED TORNADOES. THE GREATEST TORNADO THREAT SHOULD PERSIST FROM
THE WCNTRL COAST THROUGH CNTRL FL WHERE STORMS WILL ENCOUNTER
ENHANCED LOW LEVEL SHEAR AND CONVERGENCE AS THEY CROSS A WARM FRONT
LOCATED FROM SERN FL NWWD TO JUST NORTH OF TAMPA. SOME TORNADO
THREAT MAY ALSO EXPAND INTO THE COASTAL SECTIONS OF THE FL PANHANDLE
DURING THE EVENING AS THE CENTER OF DEBBIE LIFTS VERY SLOWLY NWD.

I am one house off the beach on the northern portion of Anna Maria Island, FL. It has not stopped raining since 3 am. A friend's rain gauge showed over 12" and that was four or so hours ago and we've had inches since. Three waterspouts were just offshore but were rain wrapped so I could not see them. It is the worst flooding I've seen on the island and we've lost more beach than during the Charley-Frances-Jeanne episodes. #unfreakingreal. Sorry I can't post photos except to my facebook page because my laptop went kaput. STAY SAFE!

I just had a VERY close run in with a tornado. Gusts to 60 mph with at least one power flash. Power is out all around me, but I have power here. Flooded yards. Tornado made landfall near Pass-A-Grill, moved NE to the Tyrone area, then Kenneth City (Where I am), then up toward the St. Pete/Clearwater airport.

There is a water rescue occurring near Pass-a-Grill. The Don Cesar was evacuated.

Heading to work in a bit. Nerves completely shot.

Well over 10" just today from the storm. I've had to pump water out of the koi pond twice today. Winds have been gusty but not that bad.
