Interesting AFD out of Fort Worth this afternoon:
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
327 PM CDT MON JUN 25 2012
.DISCUSSION...
MORNING UPPER AIR DATA INDICATED THE PRESENCE OF A 597DM UPPER
RIDGE CENTERED OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS RESULTING IN VERY HOT
AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL US. THIS FEATURE
WILL MOVE LITTLE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS ALTHOUGH SOME
WEAKENING IS EXPECTED BY THE END OF THE WEEK. TROPICAL STORM DEBBY
IS STILL POSITIONED OVER THE EXTREME NORTHEAST GULF WHICH LEAVES
NORTH TEXAS IN A PRIMARILY EAST-NORTHEAST FLOW REGIME. THIS IS
USUALLY A MORE MOIST FLOW BUT PARCELS COMING OUT OF THE CENTRAL US
AND MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ARE QUITE DRY...ALLOWING TEMPERATURES
TO WARM UP SUBSTANTIALLY IN THE SUBSIDENT PATTERN. CLEAR SKIES AND
LIGHT WINDS ALONG WITH LOW HUMIDITY WILL ALSO ALLOW TEMPS TO FALL
QUICKLY AFTER SUNSET.
THERE IS A WEAK UPPER DISTURBANCE OVER THE WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO
THIS AFTERNOON. THIS FEATURE WILL MOVE WEST INTO TEXAS DURING THE
DAY TOMORROW. AT THE SAME TIME A WEAK COOL FRONT WILL SLIDE SOUTH
INTO THE SOUTHERN US. THE WESTERN EXTENT OF THIS BOUNDARY WILL
MOVE INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS DURING THE AFTERNOON. WITH WEAK ASCENT
FROM THE UPPER DISTURBANCE AND POSSIBLY SOME FORCING ALONG THE
BOUNDARY...A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP DURING PEAK
HEATING. THE GFS ADVERTISES SOME RIDICULOUS INSTABILITY ACROSS
CENTRAL AND NORTH TEXAS...BUT THIS APPEARS GROSSLY OVERDONE DUE TO
BAD DEWPOINTS. MODIFIED SOUNDINGS SUGGEST ONLY MODERATE
INSTABILITY WITH SUB PAR LAPSE RATES. NONETHELESS...LARGE T/TD
SPREADS WOULD SUPPORT AN ENHANCED DAMAGING WIND THREAT WITH ANY
STORMS THAT DEVELOP. WILL HAVE SOME ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE
FORECAST MAINLY ACROSS THE FAR SOUTHERN COUNTIES TOMORROW AFTERNOON.
ALTHOUGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE HOT OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS...LACK
OF MORE APPRECIABLE HUMIDITY PRECLUDES THE NEED FOR A HEAT
ADVISORY AT THIS TIME.
BEYOND TOMORROW...UPPER RIDGE REMAINS IN PLACE ALTHOUGH IT MAY GET
NUDGED WEST A BIT IN RESPONSE TO MORE TROFFING IN THE EASTERN US.
THIS WOULD ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO COOL BY A FEW DEGREES BY THE END
OF THE WEEK. THERE ALSO APPEARS TO BE A WEAKNESS THAT DEVELOPS IN
THE MID LEVELS BY THE WEEKEND WHICH COULD ALLOW FOR MORE SCATTERED
AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. AT THIS TIME...WILL LEAVE THE FORECAST
DRY AND MONITOR THIS POTENTIAL.

Re: Texas Summer 2012
All time record high for this date in Texarkana. The previous record was 103. The good news is that there is only 2 more months of this heat, at least I hope it doesn't last more than 2 more months.

Also found the comment about the GFS advertising some "ridiculous" instability across Central and North Texas a bit amusing. Especially in light of the GFS and its "ridiculous" forecast with Debby that actually verified!

And finally, perhaps some hope for the heat to lessen by the weekend and the chance for scattered thundershowers to increase.

Its scary to me that we are breaking records after last year's summer. I'm starting to feel like we are all frogs sitting in pots of water. If we weren't measuring the temperature of the water we might not realize its about to boil soon and might just think everything is normal

This is getting scary......Sci-Fi scary!!!!!
All-Time Record Highs Fall in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska
The outrageous heat wave baking the nation's midsection reached unprecedented levels in some areas on Monday.
At least six all-time record high temperatures fell in parts of Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado as the heat wave reached its crescendo to start the workweek.
Denver, Colo., was among the cities to make history, tying the all-time record of 105 degrees, reached only two other times since the beginning of records in the city, 1872 (July 20, 2005 and Aug. 8, 1878).
The Mile High City has a shot at tying or perhaps breaking the record again today. The official AccuWeather.com forecast calls for the temperature to rise to 105 once again!
In addition to tying the all-time high, Monday's 105 was also a record for the month of June. Nearly a dozen other cities from Colorado to Arkansas established new all-time records for the calendar month.
A couple of 113-degree readings in Kansas on Monday nearly claimed the top spot for the hottest temperature on planet earth! Only six other observing stations in the Middle East were hotter on Monday, with Makkah, Saudi Arabia, leading the pack at a blistering 117.
A cooperative weather station near Tribune, Kan., which set an all-time record high of 109 on Sunday, turned around and beat the new record by a full 2 degrees on Monday.
Like I said before.....it could be worse. So much for going to Colorado to get some heat relief. OREGON,.....here I come!!! Sorry Colorado.
