This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

IMPORTANT QUESTION

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Fri Sep 05, 2003 8:36 am

Why do my posts always get shoved down to the bottom? I thought this was a family style board.. I answer a lot of posts around here... but hardly ever get any feedback on mine

Josephine..I am sorry alot of your posts are not getting many (or any)replys :( I actually miss many many posts as I tend to skim through everything since things get very high volume when the tropics are active. And rarely reply unless I feel I can add any imput with my lack of knowlege and experience with the tropics.

As you can see most posts are lucky to get 5 replys before they are shunted down to the bottom and on to the next page and many people that probably would reply just don't get to see it. Once there is a break in storms I bet you see a huge improvement in the reply level to your posts. *hugs to you*

I am 100% sure that it is not personal!! I have had many of my posts not responded to  If you ask a question, if someone knows the answer they will reply. Alot of the time, I just read the posts and gather info without replying, so your posts are getting read and you are providing useful info to someone here. Don't take it peronally please :D

Hey Josephine,

A warm welcome to S2K.

Of course you realize that when a topic gets a reply it bumps to the top. I looked over your posts and others. It appears that many others also get few replies so it's not just yours. I've asked questions here, and the response is sparse. Please understand that with all the action, everyone is intent on getting their own forcast. Some of the "old timers" here kind of gravitate to each other, in a friendly (usually) form of competition. It seems that people are more interested in being heard than they are in hearing others. If a person comes across as not confident, or not professional, some are just to busy to give the time. Just human nature. You should check out some of the other forums, like off topic. You will find the people here to be very warm and caring.

Thanks for all the sympathies guys.. You're all probably right.. It probably isn't personal.. But it still kinda hurts sometimes when my posts don't get answered.. It gives me a feeling of "why do I even bother to voice my opinion"

Thanks for the concerns

Josephine - can I make a suggestion - at the Tropic level - look at your post and see how many views it has....I myself am I work and can't reply to all post - I can view much quicker. All your posts are appreciated. So look at it another way - instead of replies - check how many times someone has looked at your post.

Josephine -- hi and welcome.

We had 69 people join Storm2k in one day, thanks in part to the changes at "the other board." That's made for a busy couple of days here. One thing that might help is to post within a topic, as opposed to starting a whole new topic. Of course, that depends upon what you're posting about and if it pertains to a previous post, go ahead an post it there, if not...well, you get my drift I hope.

I've never seen this place so busy, so don't take it personally if folks don't get to reply to all your posts. We've all had our share of getting lost in the mix...especially with things getting busy with the inevitable strikes of TS Henri and Cat 3 Fabian.

And it's not that your posts are getting shoved to the bottom. They list chronologically by reply (I believe) and with so many posters going at once, they order is gonna change quite a bit.

Hang in there and again, welcome!

Hello and welcome to Storm2K Josephine! :D I make great efforts to read (or at least scan) each and every post and respond to threads when I have something to add. If I have nothing to add, I can't make up something to say.

Of course threads that do not get replies get buried to the bottom as the more interesting posts continue to get replies.

Also, I normally go from the oldest to newest posts (bottom to top) so that the newer threads do not get buried and the older ones have more of a chance of staying further down page one or onto page two.

Like those before me, please don't take it personal. The more views your threads are getting means that a good amount of those members have read your posts and have nothing to say. No offense at all. :)
