Lots of rain down here in Sarasota. No schools cancelled but we don't expect to see the sun until Saturday afternoon if we're lucky!

Current Weather Here In Tampa - Light Rain

#5 Postby TampaFl » Fri Sep 05, 2003 6:34 am

And very overcast. Radar showing the heavy rain & squalls just off shore. Wind currently 5 - 10 mph. Local broadcast are saying as the day goes on the weather will deteriorate into this afternoon and evening. Could be very messy for the afternoon rush hour home.

It's a non-event so far. Just clouds here in South ST Petersburg. Still forecasting a boat load of rain!

Overcast here, but birds still chirping. Sky reminds me a lot of pre-Elena weather in '85. It's supposed to be almost a direct hit here, so will update the board until the 'Puter goes out

Stay safe everyone!! We got some bad storms last night and the sky was very gloomy in the panhandle (don't know how much was due to Henri) but as of now Henri is pulling all the moisture that was forecasted for us this weekend and taking it to west central Fl. So, because of Henri, we are going to have a very nice week-end.

Take care everyone and keep us updated!

It's a quiet morning but things will probably start rocking in a few hours.. I'll be updating...

Woke up to TS Henri. I read the forecast and still looks like its coming right over my head. As Dixie said, it is getting darker but calm....will post when I can. I am a bit anxious though. The forecast mentioned tornados this time......hmmmmmm. My home is fairly safe from flooding I think. at least I hope so..... Stay safe all.

Sandi... I believe what you experienced was the squall line ahead of the cold front that went through this area yesterday afternoon. Quite a lightning display with loud thunder. We got a little over an inch of rain from that passing thunder boomer.

Hey Scogor, winds picking up just a bit here, but no rain to speak of yet -- guess our turn up here is tonight.

Came home a bit early from work today. Skies are gray and ominous of things to come tonight. Occasional gust of wind. NO birds are singing, not even a secada chirping. Quiet and mostly still and HUMID! my daughter is coming home from school to stay the weekend with me. We plan to watch movies  (if we have power) I'm cooking something for dinner now so that if it gets bad later and we lose power, we'll still have something to eat. I looked at the latest forecast advisory from NHC and seems it is sitting out there off shore of Cedar Key, churning before it proceeds inland. I expect that we will have some nasty weather tonight..... I will check in tonight providing there is power and see if I can muster up some moral support from you guys...

Another update....

#16 Postby Josephine96 » Fri Sep 05, 2003 1:50 pm

Skies are still gray and ominous here.. reports that this sucker is strengthening or at least potentially strengthening worry me just a bit... It'll be interesting to see what the 5:00pm advisory says as we wait to see what Henri will do..

Rain may not be the only threat if his winds continue to increase. especially if that report of a Gust to hurricane force is correct on 1 of the bouys///

Another weather update from here in a little while

Non..event here too. I have seen more rain in our thunderstorms in the summer. They expect it to last for a while. I think this will be a little better than first expected!!! Looked like Henri was going to get his act together..but now!!! I doubt it.

This from my stepdad's brother in Tampa:

We are not supposed to get much wind at all from Henri, but the possibility exists that we may get 10" of rain which will flood the rivers. Max wind speed right now is 45 mph. I don't think there is much to worry about.
