Not a good sign that it stopped moving and is getting better organized.. The wind could become a problem as well as the rain if he stays out there too long.. I am eagerly awaiting this menace.. it's still an ominously cloudy day here...

Weather Here In Tampa

#3 Postby TampaFl » Fri Sep 05, 2003 1:21 pm

Is starting to deteriorate here in downtown Tampa. The rain is slowly on the increase since 11:30am, not as heavy as to our south, but that will change as the afternoon and evening wears on. Winds are breezy 10 - 20mph. You are correct, the stalling and getting better organized is not good for West Central Fl & the Nature Coast.

I don't see any evidence of stalling. It did reform WNW of this morning's location, but radar shows a steady E-ENE movement. I would say it is NOW (as of 12:50pm EDT) officially a TS based on 41kt gusting 52kt observations at the buoy near the center. It's till so poorly-organized that the strongest winds should remain over water in the next 12 hours or so before landfall.

And here's the latest Henri pic with obs. Squalls seem to be diminishing (slightly) around the center again:

I think it could be about a 60-65mph TS at landfall but it would really have to stall out there to become a cane. It looks good on satellite but on radar it looks more like a squall line with a hook in it.

Wxman, the recon. date and National Hurricane Center saying it is meandering (nearly stationary) isn't true?
