I'm just curious at what point the wind is supposed to pick up down here? This is giving me the feeling of Ernesto a few years back. In the end barely any rain and non existent wind.

If it stays on track, Miami may not get a whole lot.

Will they hold back on intensifying it at 11?

Looks like the first beginnings of a partial eyewall on the western part of the center on KW RADAR.

When is recon going in?

Wish they had a plane in there now, seeing as how this will be a pretty crucial update (11am) for many people.

I think 1:30EDT is when we will start seeing stats from recon.

Looks like things are trying to tighten up on radar. Bands are filling in with convection and the center appears to be wrapping up more so in the last bit.

And wow, it's quiet around here this a.m. Everyone making storm preps?

Still too close to land. Once it gets clear of Cuba and across the Keys, things may start to change.

Yeah, with such a large circulation it isn't hard to see why it didnt really start getting crazy in such a cramped place. This was to be expected, as mentioned in previous NHC discussions. I am curious to see his evolution over the next 24 or so hours, today should be an important day for Isaac.

So when do you think things will get going? Even on Facebook restaurants around here are advertising they will be open for business.

Where do you see that? At 8 AM it was at 23.5/80.0. The next point is 24.2/80.8. It would have to go fully NW just to nick the right of the NHC point.

By the way, this is looking quite a bit better than two hours ago. Not sure it will be a hurricane at the Keys, but it wouldn't surprise me to see some pressure drops.

Sometime afternoon and throughout the night, when the bulk of the rain and bands pushes in from the Bahamas and beyond

I agree with HurrMark above, on Key West and Miami radar a partial eyewall has developed. I say 70 MPH at 11 AM, hurricane later today if things progress

Isaac will not amount to much of anything (rains and some wind) for South Florida and the Keys. It may be a different story as he heads north.

But this storm has always had issues in development and whether it is dry air or multiple lows or whatever. It has been an underachiever which is fine with me.

But unfortunately this is what folks remember the next time there is a threat.

There is a Recon flight almost into the system. Should be ready for a center pass in the next half hour to an hour.

Something to keep in mind...while Isaac may be getting better organized, be careful of using radar to draw conclusions. As the center gets closer to radar, the resolution is better, so the presentation will look better too.

The NWS has updated my local forecast to include possible tropical storm conditions Tuesday night and Wednesday. I am in Livingston Parish, just east of Baton Rouge, but the southern end of my parish goes much farther south - down to Lake Maurepas. The forecast for Baton Rouge has possible tropical storm conditions for Wednesday. :double:

I am NOT a happy camper. Hilda, Betsy, Andrew, Katrina, Rita, and Gustov were more than enough for me!!!
