You mean landfall somewhere on the Gulf Coast a few days from now? I'll be surprised if it's not at Cat1 by tomorrow afternoon, maybe even earlier. It's probably only about 10 mph short of that right now.

Well I was looking around Ft. Lauderdale beach about 2 hours ago and there were squalls with at least 50mph + winds and this storm really brought in a surge to the FL east coast.. intercoastal properties have water all the way up to the top of their seawalls.. this storm will probably bring a large surge with it to the north gulf coast. stay safe up there!

Recon will be very interesting. Its satellite presentation is that of a hurricane but its radar signature is pretty pathetic.

Goodnight Isaac... It would be great to have technology that would keep a true visible image during the night hours... maybe some type of 3d optics

This dry air and possibly some shear might be our saving grace.

What dry air? I see none of it in the central-northern Gulf.

There is some dry air and a little shear but Isaac seems like it's past the worst of it. If it's ever going to ramp up it should start doing so soon.

Buckeye05 wrote:Satellite looks good but radar not so much. Open circulation and looks almost more than half dry, despite the blowup on satellite. Needs to improve a lot before we can attain even low hurricane intensity IMO.

You can't tell from radar. The radar cannnot "see" the far side of the storm because of attenuation of the signal from that side. i.e. the very heavy rain on the northern side blocks the radar signal from reaching the other half.

Not good at all!! So many times storms seem to go east of where he is. At least that's the case each time he has been in our area.

I have been here since the beginning as an inaugural member of S2K and until the last few days have never seen this graphic. What exactly does "action" mean, please? Thanks,

And good luck and be safe to all who may be on the path of Isaac. Hopefully, he will not strengthen too much more but my thoughts will be will all of you.

We have had very little effect from this storm-moderate rain and some wind but nothing strong. Tonight and tomorrow morning are supposed to be stronger. But since he is moving west away from the coast, I am not expecting much more than we have already seen. Nice to dodge another bullet.

im all for actionable items but im not really sure what action i should be taking especially since any action here should have been taken yesterday..anyone taking action in fort lauderdale tonight runs the risk of a getting hit by lighting or a palm frond..i was out earlier watching the maniacs in the ocean and it was so squally we came home
