Based upon prelim TV reports

Bermuda may not have fared much better than St Thomas during Hurricane Marilyn. Reports are that hotels lost their roofs and that concrete and plywoond have been scattered everywhere. More to come and hopefully first light will show something not quite this bad

It sure couldn;t have taken much worse of a track for Bermuda. I saw that the building code there calls for construction for up to 110 mph winds. They got quite a bit more than that from the looks of it.

Indeed, it was a bad day. I am curious... did people evacuate the island (as in residents) or did most choose to ride it out? It was a dangerous situation and I hope the damage and injuries/deaths were minimal.

Hopefully everyone in Bermuda was able to complete their storm preparations in time and there was no loss of life... :(

OMG, the reports from Bermuda don't sound good. Four people feared dead, major structural damage, no electric or phones. Although I don't know them, I followed the reports that Terri, Anne and Bryant were giving while they could and worry about what has happened to them - especially Terri who had to weather this storm alone.

MsBee, if you are reading this, someone earlier on this thread asked about people evacuating prior to the storm. You're from one of the islands - what would you have done? How do you island folks prepare for such a storm?
