Re: ATL: ISAAC - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Why is no one on TV weather talking about the trough that is/was supposed to have such an influence on Isaac's landfall point? Anyone know?

In my opinion, I think Isaac is already stacked. If you look at the Shortwave IR image below, you can see that an eyewall is developing now. I hope that I am wrong, but I think that Isaac may be beginning rapid intensification.

The good news i would think is that Isaac is not forecast to reach major status. Maybe not even cat 2. So thats good for sure.

Actually, I am really surprised that the VDM centers are as low in latitude as it is...there is almost no convection near that point. So perhaps the shear is taking much more of a toll than I thought. If you asked me based on all satellite imagery, I would say the center is close to 24.8N now.

It seems as if the rainbands affecting the east coast of florida are stronger, maybe it's because Isaac's intensifying.

In Kendall ( S.Miami-Dade Co.), getting some of the most impressive wind thus far today; would estimate we are getting numerous gusts to at least 40mph under clear sky (and fast approaching cells from the ESE)

A reminder that I made a poll this afternoon at the contests forum with the question about how will Issac be at landfall on the Northern Gulf coast on intensity. So far 32 members have voted. It closes on Monday at 6 PM EDT.
Link to poll.

I think that's probably correct. I also think the system is starting to moisten up in this quadrant that was dry for much of the day.

I've asked about this once or twice with no answers. Aric linked the WV loop but I can't decipher where it was supposed to be.

Worst squall line of the day for sure....easily seen sustained t.s. winds with gusts over 50 mph for last 15 or 20 minutes non-stop
