At this point though, and as he gets closer to the coast, a touch can make quite a difference.

Yep...gfs comin In a tad east of last one...landfall of whatever center there may be looks to be around the mouth of the mississippi river then pearl river, possibly toward Gulfport.
The 30 hour position s prolly 30 miles NE of the 36 hr position from 18z
But it still looks to drift west at landfall over Nola on gfs.

Is it just me, or is the landfall still around the mouth? Little east, but not that far from the general area.

Looks like the gfs and nam are on same page by making landfall just east of NO then turning west very slowly. Lots of wind and rain for all of SE LA if that verifies.

SG dont discount that though I think its unlikely that far west,,,,but a slow stall and shift west was always on the table....GFS shows this as well....some gusty squalls and some rain for you if that verified....

Models are getting close to being pointless at this point (being so close to land). It's following the NHC track nearly to a tee, south east Louisiana is almost a sure bet.

yeah I was not watching the models so much but the SAT views......its crawling now and the last RECON fixes were west and not so much north. I think the ridge is going to catch it as Breeze said....
