Certainly close. Katrina formed about a week ago. If that Azores storm before the season started becomes a tropical system post-analysis, I think this will be the earliest 12th named storm.

Got my eyes on moving right into Hurricane Alley: Florida.

Wow, after seeing the last couple of posts, I thought, "Kirk? No, this is Joyce!" I have already completely forgotten that Joyce has already come and gone.

Keep in mind that the total ACE for the season thus far is 32.6...Kirk and Isaac in its waning days may contribute a few points, but considering we are at the 11th storm, this is far below what is normal. Even last year, when we didn't get our first hurricane until the 'I' storm, we were at nearly 60 at the 11th storm.

Re: ATL: KIRK - Tropical Storm
Exactly! Its frustrating to see such a low 'score' with such an interesting, active season as this one.

Re: ATL: KIRK - Tropical Storm
Yeah, this season is being more active than I thought it was going to and at least Kirk is already stronger than Joyce
It would be an interesting system to watch if conditions are good in the subtropics...not as interesting as Isaac though.

A major cane is needed to jump a lot those ACE numbers as Ernesto and Gordon came shy from that. (Pending post season analysis)

I see what appears to be an eye-like feature with this.
