Isaac Inland Effects

#1 Postby wx247 » Wed Aug 29, 2012 5:27 pm

Thought I would create a thread for those of us well inland who will be impacted by Isaac. The storm will be much weaker, but impacts will be felt far far from the coast (albeit much less).

Below is the HPC latest rainfall estimate:

There's also a cold front heading down from the Dakotas. He will merge with it in the midwest and be enhanced in terms of rainfall. Certainly needed in this region, just hope not too much too fast.

Flash Flood Watch is in effect for almost all of Arkansas until tomorrow night:

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE FRIDAY
NIGHT...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS...EASTERN ARKANSAS...NORTH CENTRAL
ARKANSAS...SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS...SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS AND WESTERN
ARKANSAS...

* THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT

* HEAVY RAINFALL OF 2 TO OVER 5 INCHES IS EXPECTED TODAY THROUGH
MUCH OF FRIDAY AS THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC TRACK
NORTHWARD OVER ARKANSAS. TWO TO FIVE INCHES OF RAIN CAN BE
EXPECTED...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. C

* EVEN WITH THE ONGOING DROUGHT CONDITIONS ACROSS MUCH OF
ARKANSAS...HEAVY RAINFALL AT ANY TIME CAN LEAD TO FLASH
FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
