As a lifelong resident of NYC, this is heartbreaking. Very upsetting. I sincerely hope that those reports of people stranded on Coney Island are not true.

As a vistor to NYC several times I'm just sitting here in almost a daze watching the reports & pictures coming through. Stay safe all of you!

It just keeps getting worse and worse. Subways, runways, streets, buildings, and now the NY Stock Exchange...

The scanners for FDNY are just nonstop. Amazing. God bless all those in harms way and those responders!

Re: ATL: SANDY - Post-Tropical - Discussion
We're starting to get the gusts here in Central Ohio, and we might be waking up to some wet slushy snow tomorrow for the commute for work.
I was thinking it would be bad, but not thinking it would be the proverbial worse-case scenario - it's awe-inspiring and sad to be seeing it unfold.
Prayers to everyone affected - it looks like it's going to be (unfortunately) a long night for many
