A Prayer for First Responders:

Father in Heaven,
Please make [our first responders and emergency officials] strong when others are weak,
brave when others are afraid
and vigilant when others are distracted by the chaos.
Provide comfort and companionship to their families when they must be away.
Serve beside them and protect them, as they seek to protect others.
Amen

adapted slightly from a prayer by the Rev. Robert A Crutchfield. found here: http://community.christianemergencynetw ... rayer.html

Thank you, _____ ____ also used the term "dodged a bullet" about Katrina. I see no one is saying that about NYC; I read a few writing, and heard a few saying*, "its only a category 1 storm, how bad can it get?" & "...we go through these every couple of years!" We are now witnessing how bad it can get when an area DOESN'T "get them every year" and the storms are not the norm.

*Individuals I know, here in Florida.

So much for PATH (NY<->NJ) restarting any time soon (NY Station is at the bottom of WTC site).

I knew this was going to be bad, but this has even exceeded my expectations if even half of what is being reported is accurate. Lots of prayers to everyone up there.

This is utterly horrifying, happening in the biggest city in the U.S.

If reports like this are true, this may be catastrophic.

Wow, the bus station and train platforms are below that level also the chiller plant is below that there are 8 levels down below the WTC plaza . I have to believe the water will be getting down there. With no power sump pumps not on generators will not be running either. Stay safe NY
