Who would go swimming in this, sheesh.

You need not say anymore! Let's hope rescuers aren't lost looking for this "swimmer".

As bad as it is in NYC, Sandy hit the bulls-eye in New Jersey. Afraid of what first light will show there...

I know we are not supposed to be political, so I won't comment on the following quote from Bloomberg. "We have said from the very beginning this was going to be a once in a lifetime event..."

Anyone see a combined U.S. death toll yet? Five in NY and four in NJ is what I have seen so far.

From the Spotter Network: NYC Major: 911 receiving 10,000 calls per half hour; If you have downed trees and non-emergency flooding, you should call 311 or text 311692. Do NOT call 911. The lines are blocked for people with real emergencies. Pass this along to your NY friends.

I know a few surfers that are happy to see TSs coming in Florida. STAY OFF THE BEACH means just that, arrests of those who use up scarce resources because of personal whims might discourage these practices. YES, the storms are fascinating watching them come in right on the beach, but one still refrains from doing so. the St. Mary's and the Suwannee were closed after the late May & June "surprises", I steared clear, though I would love to see the Suwannee at flood stage; the Sante Fe, I've seen, TOO CLOSE.

I'm trying to keep my parents in North Eastern NJ informed-they have no power-when will this start pulling out of that area? Another 24 hours of this? I hate feeling so helpless down here knowing what they are going through up there. My entire family except for me and my 2 boys and husband are in NJ/NY...hating this...

That statement is just about as bad as saying "Monday will be a regular work day" Sorry, but that made me so angry.
