The evil ones are currently offline praying to the Snow Gods that the nastiness over me drops down UNMODIFIED  and that a massive wet system :D comes in off the Pacific heading your way.

They are studying every single model out there with a magnifying glass, holding closed door sessions, and loading up on every brand of Vodka they can lay their claws on.

and I am giving him Image

Ntwx's co-ordinates so he can give him up close and personal greetings.

To Ms Screamer's discomfort of cold and snow, I sha'll quote a famous saying Portastorm likes to iterate! Meetings are being held behind closed doors!

Some of you guys are acting like we've never had a January thaw before... and like February already came and went.

Relax!

File this under "Signs of Hope" --

The 6z GFS has a winter storm for west and north Texas at about 12 days out (288 hrs). :cheesy:

68 this morning in the metroplex.

Not too far off a historical August minimum. I added historical since our August mins are usually 80+ these days.

Gotta love this decade of drought. When I got up and saw 68 at my house, for the low, in January, that stuck that fork in my little dream of having a big snow event, or even a little snow event. And it looks like by the time the line of storms gets developed tomorrow, it will be past us, meaning little rain at my house.

Looking forward to seeing how the Texas Horned Toads adapt. :grrr:

However I know you fellows are a bunch of ever so tender tropicals that will be hiding inside if this cold snap comes down.

A pleasant 69 degrees in Houston this morning. Enjoyed the upper 70s over the past 3-4 days, though the wife was still a bit cold on our rides (over 100 miles). Will be sad to see the warm temps depart briefly this week, but another warming trend starts Thursday. Long-range GFS & Euro indicate gradually moderating cold for the eastern U.S. and no pattern change that would bring any really cold weather to Texas for the next couple of weeks.

U.S. snow cover has retreated north to the Dakotas but there is still more snow up there this year than last year.

I will challenge that forecast by the models wxman57! I do see the retreat to warmth after this week's cooldown. I will go out on a limb and say February will be DFW's snowiest month this winter (not coldest)

If I am wrong, I will officially re-label this the winter of your content come March 1st!

Fair enough. I'm thinking that you likely won't see any snow in Dallas in February, much less any accumulation. The developing (developed) pattern isn't very good for snow. The NW flow aloft across the eastern half of country isn't good for post-frontal (i.e., cold air) precip. Need an active southern stream storm track to go along with some significant cold outbreaks.
