Re: Florida Weather
MLB NWS Office in its covered area has discontinued the freeze watch from the Orlando area on southward as MOS forecast numbers during the past 24 hrs have stayed steadily with above freezing temps for this area.
As far as possible frost from Orlando on southward for Monday morning I only see sheltered areas from winds having frost, plus MOS shows relative humidity to stay low Sunday night for much frost to form.

Hard Freeze warning in effect for much of the northern peninsula for early tomorrow morning. We may see the coldest temps of the winter season for sure.
MOS calling for 27 degrees for Jax tomorrow morning and 28 degrees for Monday morning. The freeze line will get very close to the I-4 corridor, but I don't forsee it getting any further south. The freeze line I forsee will be from Brooksville through Ocala to Daytona for tomorrow morning morning.
The High Pressure dome will move right over the Gulf Coast and shift east over the area Sunday night into Monday morning. The winds should become light and frost in the sheltered areas will definitely be an issue on Monday morning area wide, even in the central peninsula.
We can be thankful folks for this progessive pattern in which the cold blasts don't stick around. I think after this quick shot of cold this weekend, I am inclined to think that we can close the book on old man winter for this season in these parts.

Yep, NDG you are definitely correct about this coming in mid-February instrad of in December or in early January. Otherwise, we would be looking at a poteneial. damaging freeze down into the peninsula.
But, the winter or more appropiately lack of winter of 2012-13 will definitely go down as among the warmest on record. Here is a good way to put this in perspective. I measured at total of 16 freezes for last winter season 2011-12. This winter, I have only measured a total of 6 days of the mercury reaching 32 degrees or lower at my locale.
The most amazing thing about this is that no freezing days were measured at my locale for the entire month of January, and I have only measured one day of freezing temps since Christmas Eve, and that was 31.4 degrees on February 2.
The coldest temps of this winter season in many areas will likely occur tomorrow morning for sure and again Monday morning. Will measure a couple of freezing mornings this weekend and I think that will be it this season. Again, I think what we are having right now is Old Man Winter's quick parting shot in our neck of the woods. The way the pattern has been most of this season, I don't foresee any sudden -ao/nao setting up the next few weeks.

I'm in Pasco county, and there is a Hard Freeze Watch out for Sun night, yet the official NWS forecast calls for 36F, 33F well inland. That is not even a freeze. Frost might be a threat Mon AM, but there is evidence winds may turn overnight and perhaps moderate the cold some. So, are we getting a hard freeze or is it just a very cold night? Hmmm..I'll go with just chilly. Watch Brooksville dive though. It is incredibly cold there during these types of events.

Arctic Express should be a shocker for the vegetation. Then a quick warm-up to 80* on Tuesday.

The arctic frontal boundary has just come through my location with a broken line of light rain showers and a drop of 11 degrees in temperature. At 2:15 p.m. The temp was 58.6 degrees. Currently at 3:20 p.m., the temp is 47.2 degrees and NW winds gusting up near 30 mph. Definitely the coldest airmass of this season coming in for sure.
Latest projection is now 25 degrees being forecasted by NWS Jax for their location in the morning.

The wind picked up around 1pm as the front blew through. Line of brief showers and VOILA! welcome to the cold air! However, winds are up and clouds aplenty, and it is holding now at 57F. I suspect that this will continue overnight and lows will not be bad, but Mon AM is the worry. Cold air, calm clear skies = trouble. Still looking at mid 30'sF for the lowest and watching it closely. Tomorrow's sunset temp will be the tell-all.

Re: Florida Weather
Yeap, the Arctic cold front also came through here very noticeable with its very gusty winds and temps diving right before sunset after a high in the mid to upper 60s.
The good news so far this evening is that the temps in most of central FL are not falling as quickly as forecasted by the same MOS numbers forecast tomorrow morning lows to be, so I doubt that many of the areas that are in a hard freeze warning like Ocala will see an actual hard freeze tonight, just my opinion!
I will check out the temps later on tonight and compare them to what they were forecasted to by that time to see what the trend is, hopefully the good trend continues.

Just came in from outside and it is currently 27.6 degrees at my location, by far the coldest temperature measured here this entire winter season. A very cold morning indeed.
Look for highs today to only reach the low 50s here under bright sunshine as the cold dome of High Pressure continues the cold advection today across the region. The northwest winds will be brisk the first half of the day across the area, but should begin to slacken off later today and become light to calm tonight as the High Pressure dome gets virtually on top of the peninsula as it shifts east.
Look for another very cold night and frost later tonight into tomorrow morning across the north and central portions of the peninsula. Radiational cooling condtions should be rather good tonight across many areas and temps should fall again in the mid-upper 20s across my area and interior locales of NE Florida and the Suwanee River Valley area.
The moderation trend will begin in earnest on Monday across the region as the cold dome of High Pressure moves east into the Atlantic and the east-southeast return flow will warm us up to bring our cold snap to an end.

Once the winds calmed down around 2am, the temp dropped like a rock! The low was 39.1F and it is now 40.7F. Breezes are up at 10mph keeping the "real feel" considerably lower. One more cold night. Will it get to freezing here? I noticed the dewpoints have come up a little throughout FL. Close call so my shadehouses will get the frost cloth treatment. If calm, I'll just lay it down without effort. I have 800 sqft of shadehouses full of tropicals (but not the extremely tender kind) just stuff that can take it to 32-33F in a quick dip. The shadecloth also helps. Couldn't get through just one winter without a cold snap like this? Oh well, it was still a warmer winter overall. Much appreciated. Spring will arrive once this cold snap is over. LTF shows no cold which is typical after an air mass like this FINALLY shoots down to us.

Re: Florida Weather
Never really made it past 48 down here. And to be honest, though it's supposedly 48 right now it feels more like mid-50s out. I have doors and windows open, trying to let as much cool air in as I can.

Re: Florida Weather
MOS forecasted temps for east central FL held very well, if not a degree or two cooler than actual but overall did very well with freezing temps only reaching from inland northern Volusia County on westward towards the Villages and Ocala with Lake County not reaching freezing as forecasted.

Hopefully they will be correct for tomorrow morning across east central FL of calling for low temps in the mid to upper 30s east of Hwy 27 and sought of I-4 as winds start shifting onshore druing the night from the Atlantic at H925 bringing in warmer temps at that level and if winds stay up high enough they could keep the atmosphere mixing.
Frost should not be an issue for tonight for most of central FL, my reason is because dewpoints are forecasted to stay very low for tonight in the upper teens to low 20s in most part, too low for much dew to form unless you are in the usual colder spots like the Nature coast & Ocala that temps will fall into the 20s closer to the dewpoints.
Tough call for my local MLB NWS Office whether to turn the current freeze watch to a warning after the 12z runs come out because if those winds & temps at H925 do not come true all of east central FL will definitely see freezing temps.
Forecasted sounding for the Orlando area around 4 AM.

Re: Florida Weather
It actually feels quite cool for south florida standards. That 10-15mph breeze sure makes it feel even colder.
It requires a pretty potent airmass to keep highs around 60 down here. Back to our warm winter tommorow next week.

Nice bracing 53* under perfectly clear blue skies. Whenever the sun is out down here it's always soothingly warm in the sun despite the chilly air. Got to 47* last night. Should pull out as quickly as it pulled in. One last cold night and gone.

Currently at 48.7 degrees under brilliant sunshine at this hour. Heading for max temp barely into the low 50s. The morning low I registered was 27.4 degrees just before sunrise this morning, the coldest temp of this season, and is only the seventh freeze measured for this season at my locale. Checked the NWS Jax link and they recorded 26 degrees this morning as the official morning low.
One more very cold night tonight with another hard freeze here tomorrow morning. NWS Jax is projecting 25 degrees tomorrow morning, which looks to be on the mark.

This is a classic hard freeze across the north Florida region this morning. Perfect radiational cooling conditions as the 1030 mb polar High Pressure center is bascially sitting right over the Northeast Florida region and winds have been dead calm the entire evening and pre-dawn hours. Coldest temps of the season this morning, colder than yesterday morning. Currently, I have 25.2 degrees here at my location and it has been below freezing here since 10:00 last night.
Just checked the latest temperature observations across the area this morning at 6 a.m.
NWS Jax office (Jacksonville International Airport) - 25 degrees
Jacksonville Cecil Field - 19 degrees
Gainesville - 25 degrees
Ocala - 25 degrees
Temps will probably drop another degree or two up until after sunrise. Old Man Winter certainly is giving us quite a parting shot this morning for sure. But, after this morning, there are no freezes seen on the horizon looking down the road. This may do it for this winter season in my view.

The official low for me is 34F. It has gone up to 34.5f since I last looked 20 min ago. There is very light frost in open areas. I just checked my back yard, and only plastic or metal appears to have taken frost. Plants did not (plastic and metal cool off quicker). I see none on the lawn. It was 38F when I woke up at 2am. Not too bad for such a cold shot. A high yesterday of 52F under brilliant sunshine. Okay, back to our warm winter please!
