Another season begins with high expectations of being an active one. Let's be prepared for anything that mother nature brings.

I hadn't thought much after Friday's tornado debacle, but yes it's another hurricane season! For the first time I think I come into a hurricane season realizing that I am not immune...

Well I live in California so I probably won't get affected by any storms. Some of my friends might though, since I have friends going to college in Florida, & family in Alabama & North Carolina.

Apprehensive might be a better word.

Hoping for NO major activity and no destructive landfalls. Even a low-level TS can do significant damage.

Perhaps some soaking remnants for areas that still need rain?

Local met mentioned last night that the Gulf Coast from Pensacola to Brownsville has a 47% chance of experiencing at least a Cat 3 hurricane this season as opposed to the normal average of 31%. May everyone stay safe!

Random tidbit of info. List 5 is the only list in which Texas has been hit by at least one named storm from that list. Alicia-83, Allison, Chantal, Jerry-89, Dean-95, Allison-01, Erin and Humberto-07. I also want to point out three of these names have been retired. Including two that were retired for hits on Texas (Alicia-83 and Allison-01), Dean is odd name out. So will the streak be broken this year?

List 5 is also the only list that has retired at least one name every single time it has been used since 1983.

Thats too bad that they would say that. A meteorologist should know better! Its a shame that our media has taken to spewing statistical sound-bites trying to "factualize" to the nearest percentage what are very generalized seasonal predictions with large margins of error.

I wonder if that same met would say that Town X residents have a 47% chance of experiencing at least an inch of rain a week from monday as opposed to the normal average [??] of 31%
