I've noticed just the opposite. close calls generally lean toward naming with a system close to land - particularly one in the Gulf.

Sometimes before that like they did with Debby last year, as for this storm I believe if convection can get completely over the storm I cant see why it cant reach 55kts, as for landfall I would say somewhere around New Port Richey

Bad location for a heavy rain event. Pasco County has experienced some serious problems with drainage issues and this would really make a mess of that region.

the heaviest rain won't necessarily be colocated with the center. As for Pasco county, it would be tough for them to fare worse than they did with last year's Debby which crushed portions of the western part of the county with 15". this one is moving fast enough that many totals will be less than half that figure.
