Texas is all clear.......
My opinion of course. Cool front swept through at the end of last week and we have another one that should make it through come this Friday/Saturday morning. A stronger cool front should push through late Sunday/early Monday time frame. Does this mean Texas is in the clear as far as tropical systems is concerned. Not 100% but pretty close. Any thoughts?

What if the ridge that is driving her westward (and soon, into a brief SW turn, according to other posts) continues to send her on a westward path after reaching (but hopefully not touching) the islands?
Doubtful, but still possible. I'm not ruling anything out til she's done.

Honestly
Honestly it's way too early to say anyone is in the clear. A lot of things can change between now and 7 days (estimated time it MAY affect the U.S.)

Yeah this upcoming front will not be nearly as strong as the one that brought us down to 61 degrees a few nights ago. I don't think it will be strong enough to block major hurricane Isabel from affecting the US. The good news is that it's at least 7 days from the gulf if it were to make it here so we have plenty of time to watch and wait. Oh yeah it's hot and humid again! Fall come back!

This is off of the Galveston/Houston Texas Skywarn forecast discussion today. I believe this to be the case.
WE CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF HURRICANE ISABEL. AS OF
NOW...IT LOOKS LIKE OUR WEEKEND COLD FRONT AND ASSOCIATED UPPER
TROUGH WILL BE ENOUGH TO KEEP ISABEL FROM ENTERING THE GULF OF
MEXICO NEXT WEEK. BUT AS WE SAID YESTERDAY...THINGS CAN CHANGE!

Johnny - I agree that it does not currently appear Isabel will impact any GOM areas west of Florida - but of course things can change.
Lindaloo - Yes, you can never say never. But I know it is very rare for Texas to feel the affects of a tropical storm or hurricane from late September through the end of the hurricane season. Of course, this should not stop TX residents from keeping their eyes on the tropics.
