I remember being in the dry slot in hernando county for gordon and charley

Gordon (y2k) yes. Charley didn't touch hernando county but you're about to get bombed from this one

technically yes charley went s and e of hernando county. but it was supposed to tampabay area and i went to orlando to escape to run right into it they had us do evacs if live in trailer. and so I went to orlando then turned back home where it was safer lol.

got up about 7:30 to take the dogs out. was shocked at how much water was in the pool after last night's band went through (now about 1/4 filled up from empty! -getting refinished) we must have had quite teh deluge.

I also was surprised at how windy it was. Like VERY windy! And my first thought was that the path must have been a bust and it was comng directly into Tampa after all. But at least we were in a little dry slot so I coudl take them out. The dogs didn't want to go out because they were afraid of the howling wind though. I finally got them out...big babies. It died right down a few minutes later while we were out there.

Show's what I know....I then came in and turned on the tv to find that a tornado had just gone through my area! Probably about 2 blocks over towards the water and heading north towards Dunedin/Palm Harbor/Tarpon Springs.

Here's an excellent 7-hour radar loop showing the evolution of Andrea and how things developed overnight:

NWS has a new experimental product: Tropical Cyclone Potential Impact Graphics. You can find them here:

http://w1.weather.gov/tcig/

example: here's the current impact for the Tampa WFO area (TBW):

http://w1.weather.gov/tcig/php/tcig_index.php?sid=TBW

there are different pages for projected wind impact (low for TBW); tornado impact (moderate for TBW),

Coastal flooding low to high (high for rainbow springs area).

I REALLY REALLY like this product and am thrilled to see the NWS testing it out!

I can see Tropical Storm Andrea making it up to 70 mph winds before landfall. An eye wall is starting to develop.

Next strong band about ready to approach the Tampa Bay area. Look at those strong squalls off to the southwest:

If those squalls hold together they can expect some gusty winds, heavy rain and possibly rotation. In fact, given what we've seen so far this morning at least weak rotation in those storms is a probability. It goes without saying that nobody should be on a small boat today.

Edited to add: I never get over just how fast those squalls can move in tropical cyclones.

As if Andrea is heading more east than the official track. Might be heading towards Cedar Key if not a little further south.
