I think Andrea will be a hurricane by the time it hits land. It keep looking better and better truly a remarkable storm for this time of year going against all odds.

I think she's weakening now..dry air has eroded the convection and the COC is starting to open up. She's also hiting cooler GOM sea temps now - Andrea probably peaked a few hrs ago.

I agree. The cooler NE GOM and the dry air entrained is taking it's toll. However the deep tropical moisture is creating some bands that are on the south and east side of the storm that could be quite severe. Stay safe all.

Now that Andrea is on radar the models are a little less important, but here is the 12z GFS +6 hours depicting initial landfall in FL for posterity sake.

Wow, Florida is really going through the wringer right now, hope it’s not a precursor of what will happen tomorrow here.

Morning all, first chance at a post. Had to take nephew to court (people in the court were far more scary than any hurricane I've been through). Couldn't believe how much Andrea ramped up. Looks like tpc had an east shift between the 8am an 11am. Present path will put us in the worse possible position. Hoping it will shift even more east. Very hard to believe it's going to happen. Tourists just can't understand. Possibly one of the most beautiful days here you could imagine. Sunny, 76 degrees, gentle breeze off the ocean. A perfect day. I think things will be different tomorrow at this time though.

Wow - just saw the surf at Venice Beach. Very high surf and washing over the jetty. Looks like it is coming in much further South - maybe Crystal River.
