Good morning. A Tropical Wave moving thru today is bringing scattered showers to PR and adjacent islands.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
437 AM AST FRI JUN 14 2013

.SYNOPSIS...AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION
UNTIL THE UPCOMING WEEKEND. A TROPICAL WAVE ACROSS THE EASTERN
CARIBBEAN THIS MORNING IS EXPECTED TO MOVE WESTWARD ACROSS THE LOCAL
ISLANDS TODAY AND TONIGHT. DRY AIR AND HAZY SKIES WILL ENCOMPASS THE
REGION BEHIND THE DEPARTURE TROPICAL WAVE BY SATURDAY.

.DISCUSSION...THE DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR INDICATED SCATTERED SHOWERS
AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS MOVING WESTWARD ACROSS THE U.S. VIRGIN
ISLANDS...VIEQUES...CULEBRA AND THE EASTERN SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO
OVERNIGHT AND EARLY THIS MORNING. THIS ACTIVITY WAS ASSOCIATED WITH
A TROPICAL WAVE JUST ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING. LATEST
SATELLITE IMAGES THIS MORNING INDICATED THAT THE BULK OF
CONVECTION ASSOCIATED WITH THE WAVE REMAINS BEHIND THE WAVE AXIS...
WELL SOUTH OF THE REGION ACROSS THE CARIBBEAN WATERS AND SOUTH
AMERICA. HOWEVER...AS THE WAVE CONTINUES TO MOVE RAPIDLY WESTWARD
TODAY...CLOUDINESS...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO
REMAIN ACROSS EASTERN PUERTO RICO...VIEQUES...CULEBRA AND ACROSS
THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS THIS MORNING. WAVE MOISTURE WILL COMBINE
WITH LOCAL EFFECTS THIS AFTERNOON TO INDUCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS WESTERN AND INTERIOR SECTIONS OF
PUERTO RICO. THE GFS MODEL GUIDANCE SUGGESTS THAT PWAT VALUES WILL
CONTINUE TODAY ABOVE 2.00 INCHES...BUT WILL DECREASE RAPIDLY
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY AS THE WAVE MOVES WELL AWAY FROM THE
REGION. WINDS ARE FORECAST TO INCREASE ACROSS THE REGION TODAY.

MODELS INDICATED THAT ABUNDANT MOISTURE WILL LINGER MAINLY
SOUTH OF THE AREA ACROSS THE CARIBBEAN WATERS ON SATURDAY. THUS
FOR SATURDAY...THIS MOISTURE IN COMBINATION AGAIN WITH LOCAL
EFFECTS WILL PROMOTE ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
ESPECIALLY IN THE AFTERNOON HOURS. WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY AS A DRY...STABLE AND HAZY AIR MASS
ENCOMPASS THE REGION FROM THE EAST.

&&

.AVIATION...BRIEF MVFR CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPACT EASTERN TAF
SITES THRU 14/17Z AS TROPICAL WAVE MAKES ITS WAY OVER THE AREA.
CHANCES OF PATCHES OF -SHRA...GUSTY WINDS...AND REDUCED VIS WILL
INCREASE THRU THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AND ON FRIDAY. AFT 14/15Z INCR
