The LLCC finally crapped out, but don't discount it yet especially with as vigorous a MLC as this has right now and if I had to make a guess at where the MLC is at this moment is at 18N 74W which means it should leave Hispaniola within a few hours

Note that the NHC term "post-tropical" simply means the system is no longer classified as a tropical cyclone (TD/TS/H). It does not mean it is no longer tropical in nature. A post-tropical cyclone can be a remnant tropical low pressure area, as is the case with Chantal. Or it can be a tropical cyclone that transitioned to an extratropical storm.

I'm happy with either one, really. And anyone in Florida who's still a little worried shouldn't be. Many of us will be watching closely and will post here if anything changes.

As I said earlier, death means no chance of resurrection. There's still a chance Chantal will regenerate near Florida (one side or the other).
Yeah, I would call it on life-support. Still spinning nicely at mid-levels.

So when the 17.8N/71.4W Overland position was reported, that was the MLC?

. Time to have a rest for Chantal.
This average is taken from: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2013/CHANTAL.shtml?
You can clearly understand that Chantal was running too fast on the Atlantic road

hi all! my first post here!! The way i look at it, all you need is a wave for tropical development. so i dont think Chantal should be completely written off. but wow, can she move. 3-4 days from now shouldnt conditions improve somewhat?

Disclaimer: 50% of the time I have no clue of what I am talking about. Chances are I am taking a less than educated guess that sounds good because 10 years ago I stole Mike Watkins book 'The Hurricane and its Impact'.
