Yep.. John Hope and Bob Sheets would have made 1 heck of a team together..

Plus John Hope was not afraid to go against the NHC...

If the NHC said a storm was gonna miss Florida and he thought it would hit Florida, he wouldn't be afraid to say so

Bob Sheets

#6 Postby wxman57 » Tue Sep 09, 2003 4:29 pm

At the last National Hurricane Conference (in New Orleans), Bob Sheets was sitting at a table right next to our booth selling copies of his book "Hurricane Watch", which I highly recommend. Neil Frank came over and sat with him for a while. I bought a copy of Bob's book, he autographed it, and we talked a bit. I asked what he thought of the NHC's plan to implement a 5-day track this season. I knew by his chuckle that he was glad he wasn't going to be there this season.

Also at the conference were all 5 former heads of the NHC. One of our customers got them all to sign his copy of Bob's book (including both Saffir and Simpson of the "Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale). He told me he was becoming a hurricane groupie. Wish I'd have thought of that!
