Forgive me, if this topic has been discussed already. It seems email hurricane alerts from NHC are being discontinued on July 31 2013 due to the high cost. They list several other sites who provide free email alerts but I don't see any for anyone outside USA. Those of us in the Caribbean have used this email alert service a lot.
What do we do now? Does anyone have any advice as to how I can keep getting the advisories from NHC now? without having to check the NHC website many times a day?
thanks a lot
Barbara

I don't know of another source, Barbara. Here's the notice about the discontinuation of service:

Fortunately, since most people have smart phones now, checking the internet is not as difficult as it once was. There are a number of apps available that grab the latest NHC advisories without having to type the NHC URL into your smart phone's browser.

Thanks , wxman, for the reply..I did get that notice.
unfortunately many of us in the Caribbean and S.A. are not as "wired" as those in the USA so this puts us at a disadvantage.
Guess i will just have to regularly check the NHC site a few times a day

Too many hurricanes to remember
Maybe not as helpful with google reader being discontinued, but another option would be to subscribe to the rss feeds.

Ooops sorry, I posted the link to reach the registration page. There's also WX-TROPL for Pacific and Indian Ocean advisories. You can personalize the subscription as you want
