This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Does anyone find it weird that...

Neither that Atlantic NOR the EPAC has had named storms in it for 11 days now? You'd think the EPAC would kick something up while the Atlantic is quiet, but nope.

What HURKAN said. However, this happens sometimes in July. I think it happened for two weeks in last July last year. I think the EPAC will have something in 3-4 days.

In 2012, 28 June through 3 July and again 19 July through 31 July there were no named storms in both the Atlantic and EPAC. Matter of fact, there were no named storms in the Atlantic throughout the month of July.

For the most part. 2012 and 2008 were exceptions as the EPAC was a tad above normal in those years.

1990 was odd because both the EPAC and Atlantic were active. Although the Atlantic finished the year with only near normal ACE.
