Quoted. :)

You are predicting one of the slowest Atlantic seasons on record 2 weeks prior to us entering the meat of the season. No El Nino, nothing else that would normally dictate an unusually slow season. Let's see what happens.

We had less instability last year and still managed good numbers. If it's a season full of weak storms I'll see your prediction as correct, regardless of numbers, but I'm thinking things will change in a hurry come mid August.

In a close contest between options Four,Five and Six,option Four was the winner of this August poll with 19 votes. We will see in reality how many will form. Get ready for the September poll that will be up on August 24. :)

:uarrow: I thought it was funny you posted this, but now I give it a 1% chance of happening! Kidding aside, my vote for 5 is going to likely bust.

I think my 3 will stand, even if #3 happens during the last 6 hours of August. :)

It would have helped if the NHC called Dorian something else.

If August only has at least 3 then September has to get a big burst of activity (7-8) to come close to what the experts are forecasting. By the way,the September poll will be up on August 24.

:uarrow: 3 is very doable but will require uptick soon, just that models don't have anything reliable.

For the season I think I went with 15 named storms, which is still in play. Honestly though I chose to go higher than my original thinking of 12-14 because back in the spring I assumed it was going to be another subtropics inflated season. It could turn out that way still, but the big high dominating is making tough for weak disturbances to make it up there.

Has it been a week yet? I haven't forgotten your prediction, and the only difference between then and now is two respected forecast entities have maintained their predictions for an above average year. In my opinion you do not need to say the same thing every other day in multiple threads.

It is beginning to look more and more that for the season, it will fall somewhere between 14-16 named storms. I earlier predicted a total of 16 storms for the season. I voted 5 named storms for August, but it looks as if the month may end with only around 3 storms if it doesn't start to pick up within the next 7-10 days.

So far those three votes for none in August are on the driver seat. Let's see how this month continues to evolve to see the final outcome. A reminder that the September poll will be up on August 24 so get ready for that one. :)

Why did I pick 6? I would have chosen 1 or 2.
