6Z GFS Makes 4 in a Row

#1 Postby MWatkins » Wed Sep 10, 2003 8:24 am

Yep. The extended run of the 6Z GFS makes yet another SE FL landfall at 220 hours or so as the storm stalls.

That's not so much of a concern because...well...it's the GFS...but the synoptic features in play...including a trough that was catching Isabel late in the period...keeps getting weaker with each progressive run.

Also...we may see the models increase the forward speed of Isabel a little more over the next couple of runs now that the hurricane appears to be squarely under the ridge.

I agree MWatkins that the forward speed of Isabel may increase, and that Florida is still very much at risk. But everyone from S FL up through coastal NC needs to pay close attention.

Please explain as to why you think Isabelle will "shoot" NNW after brushing the SE Fl. coast? If anything it would shoot NNE.

I agree with what lc said about the track of isabel .

#5 Postby blizzard20 » Wed Sep 10, 2003 9:30 am

The track will toward the florida coast near southern part of florida then up the florida coast , then towards the north carolina area coast then up Nj coast and then towards the southern New england coast. The Hurricane will be cat 4 and maybe cat 5 because its will be over warmer water , gulf stream and moving fast up the east coast.

Long as it cont westward track the out sea track less likely and with a strong ridge out their it keep it moving towards the east coast.

The best weather people are lc, wxrisk.com , Jb , national weather service in boston drag, and mnbc and local channel 30 in connecticut brad feild .This Isabel could be from the weather channel guy person that die last or year before his dream of the big one . So think we should name it after him . I forgot his name let me know if you know his name. I know he watching us and this hurricane from the heavens.

just remember his name is John hope .

The longer Isabel heads in the westerly direction the more she will start to scare people from Florida to North Carolina.

Is there any chance that this could be Georgia's first major hurricane in over a century

Upwelling along the eastern seaboard has held water temps down all season.

http://seaboard.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_p ... tion=44009

only 68 degrees at the mouth of Delaware Bay and only 73 degrees 64 miles off Virgina Beach

IF Izzy races up the coast, perhaps the cool water temps will chill her out!

Tropical systems don't usually have enough time to weaken when they move rapidly up the coast. Sure they weaken some, but not as much if they were to slow down in spend some time over the cooler waters off of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Gloria and Bob raced up the coast and remained formable storms.
