Potentially bad news for many of us in the peninsula as 91L has been re-designated by the NHC and is trying to organize across the Central Bahamas. The short term period for the next 36-48 hours, there is an opportunity for this system to be a TD or even a modest TS again. I am hoping that this stays offshore as I mentioned in my post above, and most everyone has experienced across the state the extreme wet conditions so far this year. We do not need 91L compounding the problems, but it looks as if the trough approaching the FL panhandle this afternoon will hopefully grab what becomes of 91L and pull it way from Florida. We have to watch closely, but flood concerns across the peninsula could be a real possibility, depending on what 91L does.

Jax area once again getting absolutely pounded by very heavy thunderstorms and dangerous lightning currently. Currnetly not at home, but localized flooding is occuring across Arlington and the Southside areas of metro Jax. I am sure my gauge probably will be full of rain when I check it when I get home.

We are going to need an arc soon lol... Please 91L, please stay offshore and get pulled out to sea. Please!

NWS JAX confirms an EF-2 tornado hit the Arlington area today.
http://www.news4jax.com/weather/thursda ... index.html

There was a report that a tornado may have briefly touched down near the intersection of Monument Road near McCormick about 4:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service said the tornado was an EF-2 with wind speeds of 125 mph. NWS said it is still determining how long the tornado touched the ground and how wide it was.

Yeah, the damage over in Arlington and the Fort Caroline area was fairly decemt. especially over along the Monument Road area. Along with the wind damage, 3-4 inches of rain fell in just 30 minutes, which caused major flooding in Arlington this afternoon. I came home to find just under 2 inches fell at my locale. That was a slow moving severe line of storms late this afternoon.

We need to dry out really bad.

Thankfully, TD Dorian behaved itself and stayed off shore and is getting clobbered by shear, so the peninsula will hopefully dry out some being west of the ill-fated system.

NWS Jax office mets surveyed the damaged areas yesterday in Arlington and Fort Caroline and confirmed the EF-2 tornado that touched town and stayed on the ground for about two miles late Thursday afternoon. Courtesy of News4jax.com. here is a image of the EF-2 twister taken by a motorist in that area:

WOW! That is huge for summer twisters. They are usually just small spouts or funnels. Dry here for a week now. 81F at wakeup due to onshore winds. Rains all inland now. I could use some rainfall. :?:

A little better than 3" in the last two evenings. Getting back toward a point where any rain that comes down is causing minor flooding. Thank goodness this weekend is supposed to be dry. A good 3-5" trainer and this area would be in trouble.

Thankfully, August has dried out considerably. July saw over 20" and it was daily downpours. August has been hit and miss with nothing heavier than 1/2" to 3/4" at a time. Even last night, despite the huge storms, total was 3/4" in two storms. St Pete has been getting killed. I believe we are at 2" for August. Dry spell coming Sun-Tue then a tropical wave late next week should pound us again.

A wet August was predicted down here. But it's been bone dry and expected to be that way until at least midweek when the SAL and strong ridging subside. Looks like May outside but it definitely feels like August.

Amazing how we can go from daily drenchings and floodings, to hot sun and no rain despite it staying hot and muggy. I mean, dewpoints are just as high, yet the sky remains partly sunny at worst. Quick downpour last night after I went to bed for 1/5" but there is nary a cloud right now.

Picked up about 3/4 of an inch in a thundershower yesterday afternoon. However, for the most part, we have received a nice reprieve from the summer downpours for most of this past week as ridging has built back into the region.

Looking for temps to approach the mid 90s in most areas the next couple of days with the strong subsidence across the area. Things should change later this week as a trough is forecast to develop over the Mississippi River Valley. This should bring about a return to the southerly flow by latter part of this week across the region and with that ample moisture. Thunderstorms will be back for sure in earnst late this week.

It has been a very dry August. It has rained, but only about 2" total in like 7-8 rains. Amazingly dry after such a wet July. The forecast for a wet period the past few days has resulted in 3 rains, quick downpours, like 1/4" total. Jesus...some rainfall would be really nice. Funny after July......

Been drier than normal (at least compared to April-July) since August 5th! So far this month here in West Palm Beach, FL we have had about 2.76in. of rain (via WxUnderground). Normal to date should be 3.25in., and the average August total should end up being 7.95in. I think it will be very hard to get there unless we see a big rain event which seems very unlikely at this point.

Just has poured several times, storms, middle of the night storms, big storms...over 4"+ since Fri night and it is still raining. The flow favors us now. We are getting to the normal amount for August now. Happy happy! :P

What a swamping tonight. deep southeast flow really favoring the western side of the peninsula for whopper late day storms.

These night time lows have just been ridiculous the last few days, commonly staying in the mid 80's until maybe 5 am when it might get down to 84. Heat index never getting below 90. Can even barely go running at night its just so nasty. Can't wait for relief from this, it seems we're getting alot more lows in the 80's this summer.

It just will not stop here in New Port Richey. Another Severe TStorm Warning, more thunder, lightning and rains today for like the fifth day in a row. This line looks very nasty. It already stormed around 4pm. The sky is black. Winds are the concern. When we get it - it just keeps on keepin on!
