Is this a record...

...for most Central Pacific activity ongoing in a non-El Nino year? It just amazes me that there is so much going on around there. Yes, some of it has crossed the dateline, but it is mostly intact.

I agree that its very unusual but I think its happened before in non-El Nino years. It would be very strange if they actually got strong which is what the Cpac is lacking, intense storms. Only one that formed in that basin is forecast to become 100 knots in the future while in the Wpac. Still, 3 TCs this close together in a basin with nothing for 4 years is equilibrium at its finest.

Two systems short.

There were 5 systems once in a few weeks time? 1992 and 1997 don't count as they were El Nino years.

2002 had 5, including three from EPAC, though I'm not sure if it was El Nino or not.

I thought you in a year at first :P Define a few weeks. in 1984, CPHC AOR had Keli (an important Jonhston Atoll hurricane), Kenna, and Lala form or move into the area in a few days time. Does that count? Even so, it is a tie. We may have a record here.

2002 was an El Nino year. It was Modoki El Nino like 1991-1992, 2004-2005, and 2009-2010.
