When will be our first major hurricane 2013?
This thread is for you to post your opinion on when you think our first major hurricane in both basins (Atlantic and Northeast Pacific) will be, and what strength you think it might attain (examples: 115 mph, 145 mph, 160 mph).

Re: When will be our first major hurricane 2013?
My humble opinion is around the first week of September. I think we might have a few named systems, and some weaker than others. I can imagine a significant storm coming into play, I am thinking peak intensity of about a cat 3-4? This is really just a opinion.

Re: When will be our first major hurricane 2013?
Yes, I've seen about this forecasted storm in the Pacific that could very well attain Category 3 status. As for the Atlantic, I really don't have much to say other than this is a major relief for hurricane prone areas — this lull of inactivity. But as was stated, things could more than change in September. Back to the Pacific, is potentially major hurricane Juliette going to form from the area of low pressure expected to form south of the southern coast of Mexico? Here is the latest outlook:
OTHER SYSTEMS WITH FORMATION POTENTIAL BEYOND 48 HOURS...
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE COULD FORM SOUTH OF THE SOUTHERN COAST OF MEXICO BY EARLY NEXT WEEK...AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR CONDUCIVE FOR SOME DEVELOPMENT. THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 0 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...AND A LOW CHANCE...20 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS.

You're forecasting a Category 5! Wow!

Maybe we could see our first major hurricane in either basin soon! Let's see how it goes. Personally, I think our first major hurricane is around the corner.
