We had a good soaking on the West End of Galveston this morning. Unfortunately, it didn't even reach the causeway and as others have noted, not a drop in Houston. Was so hopeful that this would move on through and bring rain inland!

Looks like a band of rain is starting to set up over south central LA here stretching back east over water. Big oak tress swaying back and forth.

Radar indicates what looks like a well defined MLC, but there is definitely no surface reflection of it. Is anyone else seeing this?

Yeah, I saw that about 20 minutes ago as I was looking at the HGX radar. Definite rotation but probably one of many MLCs we've all been tracking the last 2-3 days.

Looks like it's due south of Lake Charles, LA.

TX GOM organizing storm?

#316 Postby pkstinn » Sun Aug 25, 2013 7:18 pm

Is anyone studying the dynamics of the disturbance now offshore along TX-LA Gulf? Is this system capable of organizing?

Just went out on an errand and like the weather weenie I am I looked at the sky. My years of experience with tropical weather is trying to tell me there is something attempting to develop out there based on the clouds, but like I said above there is definitely no surface reflection to indicate that unless something has changed drastically in the last hour or so.
