actually that works perfect check the previous obs.. the wind has switched from E to ese to sse... meaning the center passed just to the south of it very close.. and it fits well with sat and microwave estimates of the center location.

also may be multiple vorts in there too causing odd data..

I looked wrong at the coordinates of the buoy. You're right, looks as though it passed just south of it, even the pressure responded.

well its over the greatest heat content we have in this basin, it should be blowing up pretty good with little shear and an anticyclone over it. Once it crosses the Yucatan though or even if it shoots the channel still going to enter hostile conditions.

lol maybe its the government shut down ? no one maintaining or updating site.. from the research division website ...

"Due to the Federal Government shutdown, NOAA.gov and most associated web and social media channels are unavailable. This blog will not be actively maintained during the Federal Government shutdown. Only web sites necessary to protect lives and property will be maintained. See weather.gov for critical weather information or contact usa.gov for more information about the shutdown."

Aric, this is on top of the HDOBS page...

Due to the Federal Government shutdown, NOAA.gov and most associated web sites are unavailable. However, because the information this site provides is necessary to protect life and property, it will be updated and maintained during the Federal Government shutdown.
Atlantic USAF High-Density Observations

Whether they do come through or not is another topic...we'll see.

Over 7+ years now, I have found if you want to do recon work...you better have a ton of patience because they'll either take off 30 minutes early, 3 hours late or any combination of the two. ;)
