Irresponsibility by Local Mets

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Thu Sep 11, 2003 11:49 am

I have to vent about my local mets right now. I know the ones that work at Noon are not the "Chief Meteorologists"... but unlike yesterday, everybody has seemed to jump on the cold front band wagon...

WHICH IS HEINOUS BECAUSE IT'S A. HEADING STRAIGHT FOR US RIGHT NOW and 2. Because they can't afford to be playing the "Cold front Serenade" with a Cat 5 possibly a few days away

I also think it's irresponsible cause it sends the wrong message to those who either have no clue what's going on or to the ones who don't know much about storms..

Someone tell the Local mets to jump off the cold front bandwagon cause this storm has Florida written all over it. I really do hope I'm wrong, but we shall see..

Thanks for listening and opinions welcomed :) lol

I think your local mets should at least say that there is a possibility the storm could affect your area next week, but they will know more in a few days.

Oh, I so agree with you. Down here in S. FL, they are really counting on that front and I think they are giving people here a false sense of security.

I agree. Even one of the local mets here in Panama City said that there was a decent chance that this 2nd cold front may "wash out" well before it gets to the Panhandle. While I really don't think Izzy will make it into the GOM I do think that the EC of FL is in a very precarious position.

I think there's a distinct possibility this may reach the Gulf.

Georges, Andrew, and Frederic come to mind.

Major sense of in complacency by local mets here.. They shouldn't just flat out assume the front will pick it up and move it. They should warn us
