Man, take a look off the NC coast today .... Accuweather's Bastardi has been crowing for days about the fact that Henri would redevelop and threaten the US coastline ... most everyone including Tolleris from WxRisk laughed him off. Guess who's laughing now?
Let's hope the heavy rains soon to impact the Carolina coastal plains aren't a prelude to the "motherlode" coming from the southeast!

I disagree with the idea this is Henri and/or that it is tropical. It is not.
TC's don't sit of fronts.

Sure looks like a coastal low to me...not anything with a name on it
The issue hasn't been will a storm develop there...it's JB's unbecoming spin that it is Henri. There has been ample agreement a storm would be there (it is). Last Saturday, I wrote in our Updates there would be a storm off the VA-NC coast by Thursday night. But even then, I never implied it would maintain tropical charchteristics.
Bastardi can say what he wants...doesn't make it a TD, TS or a Hurricane.

I agree, Scott, it's a frontal "Hatteras" low now. Very cool, dry air has been flowing offshore into it for days. It's a most a hybrid low, but mostly extratropical. I can't believe JB spent about 5 minutes on Henri and half that on Isabel on today's video.

OK Scott and WxMan57, that same argument might be used in saying Grace was nothing more than a hybrid low, which it was .... and we've all discussed how NHC played Where's Waldo? with the actual center of that particular system.
But I don't like where this is going .... I have too much respect for you guys and your met knowledge to be debating. But it does seem to me that Henri was written off too soon and the effects of it (or the coastal/hybrid low) may ultimately effect Isabel.

Er, I think a good case can be made Grace was a TC
TPC is always in a bad spot w/these types of storms, I'll agree.
They must dump Henri when he lost tropical characteristics b/c that is their job...it gets handed over at that time. I think NCEP, while accurate on the hybrid, has downplayed this storm and I don't understand why. Three quick sentences today was all it got.
It's pretty much been left to NWS over here to handle in ZFPs and AFD, which they've done a good job with. You're right that this storm certainly impacts where and when Izzy comes in, or if she does.

Remnants of Henri the last few days retained warm core characteristics as a low level swirl. Yesterday, there was an eliptical center with two circulations. Forget the earlier vortex as something still spun out of the remnants. Decent radar presentation off the NWS MC, NC radar. Bottom line is that tropical storm conditions will be occurring over the NC, VA and possibly MD coastal areas over the next couple of days.
