I think we got down to 28 at the Gulfport airport this winter. Yep, second year in a row without a hard freeze. Nature is balancing things out because of the past couple of winters were so cold....MGC

A quick moving storm system will move across the Tennessee Valley Thursday night and Friday morning bringing a chance of snow...sleet and rain to North Georgia. No accumulations are expected except in the higher elevations where a dusting could occur.

Sleet reported in parts of south Louisiana this morning.....is it really April 19th? It was really a cold day today down here on the Miss Coast, nothing at all like April.......MGC

Here in Baton Rouge this morning, we had a record low of 39, the latest under 40 degeree temp recorded in April.

I have frozen dew on the car roof while the roofs of the houses in the neighborhood had a good coverage of frost.

While the airport at 5:00 says 42, I can tell you history made here in south Baton Rouge. For May 4 the top of my car has ice. And the roof tops are white with frost. Would not believe it if I did not see it.

I'm hoping with all this odd weather that this winter will favor snow in Southern GA

It is looking like the first really cold blast for the season is on its way for us. They are calling for temps down into the middle 30's for over night lows by the end of the week. Looking forward to it. :ggreen: :cold:

Seems that we (East TN) always get our first true cold snap right at Halloween. Got it a little early this year.

Frost and freeze advisories have been posted across portions of Tennessee Valley and into North GA, and the upstate SC into the Piedmont of NC for the latter part of this week. Fall or even early winter conditions has arrived in the Deep South.

I got down to 43F this morning, supposed to be a few degrees colder tonight and then drop to near freezing Saturday morning. Looks like frost is almost guaranteed Saturday morning.
Our average first day of frost is Nov. 9 so if we get frost, it will be about 2 weeks early.

It is a cold morning across much of the Deep South as several areas are seeing their first freeze of this early autumn season. At this hour checking obs, freezing temps are being reported as far south as Macon GA, which is currently at 31 degrees. Many areas across North and Central Georgia are in the low-mid 30s, as well as the upstate and midland regions of SC and into NC Piedmont. NWS office in Charlotte is at 28 degrees currently, one of the coldest spots I have seen this morning.
