Ladies and gentlemen, remember this day, for there's a chance we may not in our lifetime see another storm with winds quite this high making landfall. I'd definitely want to be in some sort of reinforced bunker right now if I were in the path of the eyewall.

Furthermore, I hope everyone is saving as many images as they can of the storm's satellite presentation and, soon, radar views - I know I am, because I might not see another storm like this for quite a while. I am quite glad that this thread is being carefully archived.

Colors of lost purpose on the canvas of irrelevance

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

This could be the most active thread of 2013 in the tropics perhaps, given the historical value and the fact the Atlantic has been practically dead.

Radar presentation is very good, but does the "moat" around the eyewall indicate the begginings of an ERC?

Philippine mountainous terrain does not seem to be affecting circulation and organisation very much.

Microwave imagery is suggestive of a secondary eyewall beginning to form, the start of an eyewall replacement cycle.

And the irony is that this historic storm will end up having a HUGE impact downstream on the CONUS next week, helping to usher some mighty cold air into the lower 48.

Internet chatter unconfirmed central pressure 880. Not sure of credibility.

Got to be careful. I'm not sure of the source and I think people are confusing reports.

That's just a guess using Dvorak. No instruments in the eye yet.

Caught this on the news this AM. Horrible yet beautiful on IR. Prayers for those in the path. Historic storm for sure. Surprised not more traffic on here... A thread about possible landfall in TX or FL seven days out would have 200 pages

Latest. Pounding Leyte right now. Inner eye still holding strong despite possible eyewall replacement cycle. "Moat" might just be radar blocking by closer rain bands, though.
