Left new Orleans a little before six and thermometer on my truck said 80. Couldn't be far off since my phone said 78. And also the nws is saying interior sections of se LA might see a light freeze Tuesday night but that's it. Said air should moderate all week. So much for the cold

Re: SW LA/SE TX Winter 2013-2014
We hit 80 degrees today. It's been such an abrupt change this week from the cold last week and the cold front can't get here soon enough! Looks like a cold wet/rainy weekend is ahead and then some light freezes next week. The roller coaster continues...

Most forecasts I see show a slight warm up on Sunday but then Mon-Thur we don't seem to get out of the 50s. I wouldn't call that much moderation with the exception of Sunday. After that we probably torch until February.

37f and misting at my house in W. Houston. Not expecting temps much above this for several days with periods of precipitation, probably mostly rain. However NWS is saying we need to watch Saturday afternoon into Sunday for the Winter precip here. Best guess from what I am seeing at various sites and reports is that we will be cutting it close this weekend on the Wintry precip in the Houston metro area. Norther parts of Harris County may see some, still not sure about anything below FM 2920(far N Harris county and Houston metro).

36f and just quit drizzling here at my place Houston. We got .02" of rain overnight. Glad we stayed above freezing. Please be sure you know what the weather is in your area before you venture out. The reports from DFW and areas to our N and NW are scary.

Still in the upper 70's here south of baton rouge, humidity has dropped to 80% Hard to believe the cold just came to a dead stop as it reached LA. Shreveport had a huge bust much like Texas did last week. Issued all kinds of winter storm/ice warnings etc for north and north central LA but below freezing temps never made it as models showed. They even mentioned it in this mornings discussion about the models busting.
And vbhoutex,
Can't believe the amount of people they are showing on the news trying to drive through all that ice, its pretty unreal. Then they will be the first ones bitching and raising hell about damage to vehicles and roadways not being shutdown, etc, etc. Reminds me of all the idiots around here that insist on getting out to drive in the middle of a hurricane just to look at stuff.

That is fascinating. I work in Brusly and it is quite cool out, I'd say lower to mid 50s.

Well not long after I posted the above I had to go to baton rouge and temp had dropped about 15 degrees in a matter of 10 miles. Got home and now we are sitting at 53. Pretty good drop in just under two hours time.
But of course we had to bust on something for today and it ended up being the rain as usual. Only a trace amount at the house. Just enough to wet the pavement and it quit

Went to sleep to and woke up to 31f here at the house. Fortunately, if there was precipitation overnight it wasn't enough to do anything. Hoping we aren't going to get any more precip today, at least until I get back home this afternoon. Not sure our temps are going to rise up to even 35f today with the cloud cover we have. Radar is showing some precip to our SW coming our way but it appears to be very light.

From Jeff Lindner at 11am:
Currently 33.6f at my house and skies continue to slowly darken. Not much on radar at this point, but that may change. Definitely going to destroy the low maximum temp for this date which is 45f!! Personal observation-the air feels very moist to me compared to what it was this morning. HHHMMM??????
Getting a couple of reports of light freezing drizzle over Wharton and Colorado Counties.
Temperatures have really gone nowhere since sunrise and expect maybe only a degree or two of warming today. Locations west and NW of Harris County may not rise much if at all above freezing. With increasing radar returns to the SW and incoming lift increase drizzle and light rain can be expected this afternoon with some minor ice accumulation mainly on elevated surface NW of a line from Wharton to Katy to Conroe.

Just another wasted day of cold, and just downright nasty, but of course with no precip bigb. Of course tomorrow the rain will come and we will be 20 degrees warmer.

Now 35.1f with a VERY LIGHT mist that looks like tiny snow flurries coming down. With the temp what it is I know it is a mist.
