Think there definitely will be some icing issues tomorrow morning in the northwest and west parts of the county ... for the morning commute. And if you know Austin, you know we have a LOT of people who drive into town from those parts of the county.

My concerns are not with the temps. It's the moisture. Still kinda seems to me like much of it will not be available on the southern end of this system. I know I keep waffling on that but...

Well advertised strong cold front has moved through SE TX with significant temperature drops this afternoon. The KatDaddy weather station recorded a high temp of 79F at 11:54AM and its now down 47F at 6:30PM…..32F drop so far today. Also the well advertised Winter storm is also in progress over North Texas this evening. Already getting numerous icing reports and picts via Twitter. Conditions will only worsen overnight.

No ice on trees here around north park mall on 75. Radar southwest doesn't look as bright as it did earlier. Not as much energy as it looked earlier.

The hesitation to close some northern ISDs is bizarre.

You have officials on the news telling people to stay home.
Streets are already freezing over.
The rain is going to increase, and the temperatures fall.

Just what are they thinking will happen?

In my neighborhood, it would not be safe for a bus/car/bike right now on the streets.

You'd have to think the ISDs are in close communication with the NWS, are they telling them something that is keeping them from making a decision?

Because according to ALL other sources, there is no way in hell kids in north dallas will be able to get to school tomorrow, so why the delay

Good evening guys, getting home definitely was not fun.

Anyway I'm sure all of you are aware right now everything that's not concrete has a glaze of ice on it. It's going to get much worse, we are still in light bands right now and especially when temps fall into the 20s. More intense bands will come through and that will likely be the catalyst for the roads and everything else to become a skating rink heading towards midnight and morning. Stay safe!
