Can someone tell me
What does 115 knots equal
130 mph - Strong Category 3
135 mph - Minimal Category 4
because i read Frederic was 115kts at landfall and the NHC lists him as a Category 3
SO i figure 130 mph at landfall
Could someone support my theory
KNOTS = MILES

All of these wind speeds are approximations, since there hasn't been any recon as of yet.
Round knots x 1.15 into mile per hour, but round down on mph intensity to the nearest 5 mph, unless it's within one mph or so of the next higher 5 miles.
Remember, these are estimates. The exact speeds are entirely meaningless. I'm sure that 155 mph (135 knots) will change your storm preparations dramatically from 140 knots (160 mph).
Right?
