SSTS
Are SSTS Warm enough for Isabel to support Category 4 status as far north as North Carolina.

Yes.. When a storm gets this organized and large it can travel over cooler waters for a short time before actually weakening. It's not just the SST's that make the strength..it's the combination of factors. Excluding SST's I have seen systems actually strengthen temporarily over cooler waters because of the other features. :o
