Storm2k update & major fundraising info - All, please read!

Update: We have enough money to cover next month's bills, but not the following month. If you can spare a donation, we could really use it. We rely on our members to keep us going and we truly appreciate each and every donation, no matter the size. It all adds up! Just think... if every member donated just $5 or $10, we'd be covered for years! That'll never happen, but if every active member did the same, we'd still be covered for a long time.

Our current costs for just the server are $230.00 of per month. We also have other costs for some of the features on the home page which are not as much but must be paid on a yearly basis.
I just did a calculation based on our active membership+guests that are usually on the site at any given time. That appears to be an average of 135 plus or minus. Of course when there are severe, Winter, and of course Tropical weather situations happening our on site amount jumps by hundreds. Anyway, using the lower amount of 135 we get 135X$5=$675 per month. That amount covers almost 3 months of the server cost. Just think if we got that amount($675) each month. That would amount to $8100 per year, which would easily cover our current costs.
Like Kelly said "That'll never happen, but if every active member did the same, we'd still be covered for a long time." She is right, it hasn't happened yet in all the years we have been open. To say the least Kelly is an integral part of this site and we as admins rely on each others help, as well as the rest of staff, but I have a challenge for the membership and visitors to STORM2K. PROVE KELLY AND I WRONG. MAKE IT HAPPEN!! Is this a plea for funds? You bet it is. If we don't get the money, the end result is pure and simple-STORM2K WILL END UP SHUTTING DOWN. There are other options available to us such as going to a subscription service or allowing ads on the site, but that is not something we want to do. We are actively looking into all options available to us and some of them would save us substantial amounts of money, but until we are sure that we will still be a secure site with technical personnel that can quickly troubleshoot any problems that may arise we won't be making any quick moves.
