Re: SW LA/SE TX Winter 2013-2014
Ice, freezing rain, no power, road/bridge closures, schools and govt offices closed and currently up to 27º. Two fatalities on icy roadways already this morning. Because of the continued rain the mets are now concerned about a refreeze of the wet surfaces again tonight.

27f with the precipitation over here in W Houston. Temp not budging, so I am not expecting the temp to get above 32f today. Ice, ice baby everywhere with multiple road closures and multiple accidents all over the Houston metro area.

Just watched a little wafb and they updated the forecast saying we wouldn't get above freezing today. Going to be a cold day and night. Hopefully the gfs is on to something and we get to do this all over again next week

Cyclone Mike, I'd like to do it with snow next time, not with all of this ice!

Our temperature dropped to 26º and hasn't budged in a couple of hours. I don't see us getting at or above freezing today.

Saw your post and went to look and sure enough seem to be having the heaviest right now and its mostly sleet. Starting to collect on cars and roofs around here. Only models that I think had this were yesterdays and this mornings gfs and cmc. Really can't wait to see what happens early next week. The cmc is looking good. Can't disregard either of them at this time.
Hard to see but my truck is completely enclosed in a sheet of ice.

My home after hours and hours of rain/frozen rain/sleet/snow. My neighbors yards are more filled in as they have yardmen who scalp their yards and their grass is much shorter than mine! And I've incurred some ice damage. The back patio table umbrella broke. Oh what shall I do?

Precip as heavy as it's been all day in central Lafayette (although by the looks of radar we only have a couple of hours to go). Almost all sleet with a little freezing drizzle and a few snowflakes mixing in at times... It's continuing to accumulate and even starting to cover grassy areas and stick to pavement in spots.

The NWS forecast for DS (updated at 2:53 pm CST) actually mentioned the S word for Tuesday night - only a slight chance, but I still can't believe that they mentioned it at all! They also have a slight chance of rain, freezing rain, and sleet for Monday night. I can't wait to see the next Forecast Discussion update. They are usually so conservative...

Just saw that JS. I'm surprised as well they already have it in the forecast. Guess they cant disagree with the models until they show otherwise, especially after what has transpired today. From what I saw of the 12z euro ,gfs, and especially cmc we could really have a nice winter storm early next week if things come together as shown. Going to be a long four days of model watching. Usually this is saved for tropical season.

The precip has come to an end but the temp is still at 27. The projected high was 33. We're not going to see that.
Our city is split in half by the Vermilion River. There are 5 bridges in the city. Only one is open and one just outside the city is open also. Needless to say, traffic is a mess.
