If you were expecting a good amount of snow it's likely a bust (which still puzzles me how some forecasters had 5+ inches last night). But there is still winter weather to be had likely sleet and/or freezing rain so wait until it is over to call a verdict.

That it is, but temps are no where near frozen precip criteria. Unless we see some record breaking wet bulb effect, we may be west of the winter precip. :(

You still think I could get up to an inch of snow/sleet here in College Station Ntxw?

It is a bust. I see the eye. This is a terrible excuse for a tropical storm. Where is my rain? All I got was a rock. Ok, now we are done. Catharsis complete. Relax. Enjoy the show. It is coming. ( Get Champ The Charger out Porta. We are going on roadtrip. :) )

Patience young grasshopper. Ntwx and Porta can tell you. This takes time. :) The saturation is beginning. The temperature will fall. :)

From Sraintx at KHOU Weatherboard....

EWX reports light snow and sleet across the Edwards Plateau.

It is coming. Watch the 18Z NAM. You might like it.

0z NAM is coming in colder and wetter than it's past several runs. It's now showing up to 2 inches of sleet/snow in Austin tonight.

You forgot "SEASON FAIL".

It is BIZARRE to me how people come on here and start throwing around the "bust" word. Do y'all just like the attention given to your comments?? Because they don't seem to be actual forecasts! LOL.

Is that a trick question? Are you trying to bait me into saying yes?

Well in that case yes, sure why not! Warm nose worries me though, I was hoping for more snow for you guys. It's unbelievable though I was going through a few models how it has just appeared and keep appearing stronger each run. I blame wxman57, he is doing his dirty work in SE Texas with intense heat lamps shooting up into the clouds. We should've sent him off somewhere before this all started.

EWX must be paying attention to the NAM. Earlier my point forecast was a 20% chance of precip and no accumulation mentioned, now it is 30% with less than half an inch of snow.

My only worry is the dew point is sitting at 5 degrees right now. I may be wrong but won't a lot of the precip evaporate before it even makes it to the ground?

Evening AFD update from the Austin/SA NWS office:

".UPDATE...
AN UPDATED WSW PRODUCT TO BE ISSUED SHORTLY.

ALTHOUGH A GOOD PORTION OF THE RADAR ECHOES MOVING INTO SOUTH
CENTRAL AND WEST CENTRAL TEXAS REFLECT A FAIR AMOUNT OF MELTING
LAYER ENHANCEMENT...SURFACE REPORTS ARE CATCHING A MIX OF LIGHT
RAIN AND PROBABLY LIGHT SNOW ACROSS THE SOUTHERN EDWARDS PLATEAU.
GIVEN THIS TREND AND THE FEED OF A DENSE LAYER OF MID LEVEL CLOUDS
EXTENDING SW TO THE PACIFIC SUBTROPICAL LOW...WILL NUDGE POPS
WESTWARD FOR LATE TONIGHT...AND INCREASE POPS TO 30 PERCENT OVER
CENTRAL TX FOR AFTER MIDNIGHT. QPF WILL BE INCREASED SLIGHTLY FOR
THIS AREA WITH A LIGHT DUSTING OF SNOW SUGGESTED FOR AREAS ALONG
AND N OF A FREDERICKSBURG TO GIDDINGS LINE. EVENING QPF AMOUNTS
ARE NIL AS THE FIRST WAVE OF INSTABILITY HAS TO FALL THROUGH
ALMOST 10000 FEET OF DRIER AIR.

NO MAJOR CHANGES WERE NOTED FOR THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE
ADVISORY AREA...BUT HAVE INCREASED THE ONSET OF MIXING INTO SLEET
WITHOUT MAKING CHANGES TO TEMPERATURES. VERY DRY AIR WAS NOTED ON
THE DRT SOUNDING WHICH SHOULD ENHANCE THE PROCESS OF RAIN CHANGING
OVER TO THE MIX. VERY LIGHT AMOUNTS ARE STILL REFLECTED IN NEW
MODEL ARRIVALS FOR THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE ADVISORY AREA."

Haha I'm still hopeful that I will wake up to at least a dusting of snow on the ground here. Yeah after yesterday's 12z model runs it looked like a lot of us had a decent chance of seeing a pretty good sleet/snow mix from this event.

Seeking a repost of an image that was posted several pages back. It was a near full globe showing the warmer air out of the Pacific through Alaska and up towards the north pole above the colder air being pushed down.

Probably back around page 225 or so, but I can't remember and I can't find it.
