Looking forward to, perhaps, multiple winter weather chances next 7-21 days. Oh, and cold air of course.
Here's hoping we can just get some moisture into the South Plains in any form, right?!
Well, this is true. And, we all know liquid would absorb better if grounds weren't frozen... Can I be selfish - I need a good snow (not ice/sleet/1in of powder). I'm still liking my chances of rain AND the white stuff through mid-month. Only worry is track of storms - don't want the typical Rolling Plains - east to Dallas precipitation shield with a more northerly storm track.

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
Per the photo above, some of the local ISDs in our area really blew it in how they handled things this morning. It's not like the freezing rain was a surprise or anything. Instead, children's lives were put at stake. We've had a bus crash and as I type this we have parents and kids on icy roads trying to get home because they were on their way to school and heard it was delayed. This is the kind of stuff for which upper management types should be held accountable.
Meanwhile, all I can say about Austin traffic this morning is ... forget it. It is as bad or worse than last Friday.

24 degrees in Lago Vista. Ice glaze on everything. Roads treacherous. Astonishingly enough, LVISD didn't bother delaying classes. FM 1431 between Lago Vista and Cedar Park should be avoided.

I am neither a professional meteorologist nor an amateur meteorologist. Please do not consider any of my posts to be a forecast of anything. Anything I post that is remotely forward looking should be considered speculation at best.

Just got email and phone message from Pflugerville ISD, classes delayed 2 hrs. It is getting really icy here now and with temps only moderating slightly today this won't be gone in 2 hrs. My work is delayed till 10am but no problem since I work from home anyway.

Be safe out there, amigo. Yeah, similar conditions here at PWC HQ. 26 degrees with some light freezing rain still falling. Ice glazing everywhere.

WPO is cliff diving, EPO is already in the depths. They never fail to deliver prolonged freezes and it looks like severe cold will emerge in Western and NW Canada. -PNA will bring out a strong jet and multi-faceted storm(s). Your odds my friend for snow has never been better this winter.

31F here and a steady rain.
I think a lot of Houston drivers are going to regret going-in earlier this morning.

Yeah, so much for the "bust" talk. Y'all are probably going to get one nasty ice storm. Be safe!

Starting to get some sleet with the rain here now but radar out to our west looks like precip may end soon and clouds are getting lighter as well.

Light freezing rain and sleet here in Houston. Wet bulb is really cooling things down fast and ice is starting to form on the balcony.
And I'm supposed to go to work today. Not sure it is going to stick to roads but the overpasses have me slightly worried.

Sorry you have to drive in. Take it slow. With all of the wrecks and road/bridges closings, you probably won't have much choice BUT to go slow!

Discussing with Portatorm up the page - any moisture id good moisture out here. But, I agree with you. Not even a one-and-done deal here. Perhaps multiple storms, affecting a lot of real estate. Globals ALL have it in some for or fashion - mucho support from teleconnections, as you mentioned.
